Job description

The Benefits Manager is responsible for the effective administration, delivery, and continuous improvement of the organization’s employee benefits programs. This role partners with the Director – Benefits to support benefits strategy while owning day-to-day execution, vendor management, compliance, financial oversight, and team leadership. The Benefits Manager ensures benefits programs are competitive, compliant, cost-effective, and delivered through consistent, scalable processes that provide a positive employee experience. This role works closely with the HR Service Center, Finance, Legal, Communications, HR Technology, and external vendors to ensure reliable operations and high-quality support for employees.

What You Do.
Benefits Program Management & Strategy Support

  • Support the translation of benefits strategy into actionable plans and program enhancements
  • Lead end to end project management, consistently delivering initiatives on schedule, within scope, and aligned with strategic goals
  • Continuously improve and refine the health, welfare, retirement, and wellness benefits
  • Monitor market trends, utilization, and employee needs; provide insights and recommendations
  • Help operationalize multi-year roadmap priorities and annual planning activities

Service Delivery & Operations

  • Execute within the defined benefits operating model, ensuring effective coordination and clarity across benefits team, HR Service Center and External vendor partners.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and consistent administration of benefits programs
  • Document and improve end-to-end processes, controls, and service standards
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex employee benefit issues

Vendor Management

  • Provide oversight of relationships with benefits vendors, administrators and brokers
  • Monitor vendor performance, service levels, and issue resolution
  • Support renewals, implementations, and vendor changes in partnership with leadership
  • Participate in RFPs, negotiations, and optimization efforts as needed

Financial & Data Management

  • Support benefits budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis
  • Analyze utilization and cost drivers; identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement
  • Ensure accurate data, reporting, and dashboards to support decision-making

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure benefits programs are administered in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Coordinate required filings, audits, disclosures, and documentation (e.g., ACA reporting, Form 5500s)
  • Partner with Legal and vendors to maintain compliant plan documents and notices
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact to programs and processes

Employee Experience & Communication

  • Support clear, accessible, and employee-centered benefits communications
  • Partner on open enrollment planning, materials, and execution
  • Ensure benefits delivery supports key employee life events
  • Address and resolve escalated employee benefit inquiries with accuracy and empathy

Team Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to the benefits team
  • Set clear priorities and ensure accountability for operational deliverables
  • Coach and develop team members in benefits administration, vendor management, and employee support
  • Reinforce a culture of ownership, responsiveness, and continuous improvement


Your Education and Experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
  • 5 - 7+ years of experience in employee benefits administration and program support
  • Experience working with multiple benefit vendors; self-funded plan experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across functions
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills preferred
  • CEBS, GBA, or similar certification a plus
