Job description

GME RESIDENCY COORDINATOR

We are seeking a GME Residency Coordinator, sometimes referred to as a Graduate Medical Education (GME) Coordinator or Medical Residency Coordinator. The GME Coordinator will manage and facilitate the day-to-day operations of our medical residency programs at Knapp Medical Center and Harlingen Medical Center. Acting as a liaison between program stakeholders, they facilitate communication, oversee budgets, and coordinate events such as orientations and graduations. The GME Coordinator is essential in balancing the administrative, educational, and compliance needs of our hospital's GME program. 

Employment Type: Full Time – No Weekends or Holidays 

Shifts Available: Days (Monday – Friday)  

Hours: 8-hour shifts

With oversight and direction from the Program Director/DIO/Administrative Director of Medical Education (ADME), the Program Coordinator is responsible for the operational and financial management of the residency/fellowship training program and support for the Program Director and Residents. The position requires a comprehensive and detailed understanding of ACGME or other national accreditation policies and hospital policies, as well as a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. The Program Coordinator will continually assess and direct a wide range of programmatic issues including long range planning, recruiting trainees, developing projects, maintaining databases, communicating with faculty and trainees regarding a range of issues, and managing internal and external program relations. The Program Coordinator is a member of the education design and leadership of the residency program, therefore, ultimately responsible for the residents within the program. This is a Professional position as such total professional behavior is a requirement. Any and all communication and correspondence should first be directed to the Program Director and DIO as needed.


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma/GED required.

2. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

3. Minimum of 3 years of related work experience preferred.

4. Computer skills required.

5. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

6. Excellent presentation skills

7. Ability to efficiently and accurately manage multiple tasks and projects

8. Ability to work independently, with limited guidance

9. Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills

10. Ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality

11. Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft suite, ERAS, NRMP, New Innovations
