Job description

We are currently looking for a Full Time Community Engagement Specialist to join our Hofanti Chokma Program Manager team located at the Apila Center working 8:00AM-5:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr.
Summary:
The Community Engagement Specialist will provide community outreach and capacity development activities designed to prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and promote Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) to improve health and mental wellness in Chickasaw Nation communities.
Responsibilities:
  • Participates in strategic planning activities and work plan execution as related to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Preventing Adverse Childhood Experiences through Data to Action grant project and other strategic initiatives to prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences and promote Positive Childhood Experiences
  • Works with other program staff, DRPH staff, local, internal and external partners and community members to expand the reach and scope of activities that support ACEs prevention and PCEs promotion
  • Participates in program meetings, partner meetings, and community meetings and events to continually engage community members and partners in strategic activities to prevent ACEs and promote PCEs through locally relevant and culturally resonant approaches
  • Organizes and hosts events and activities that support community capacity and action to prevent ACEs and promote PCEs for children, youth, and adults
  • Works directly with selected communities to increase capacity for strategic actions and evaluation related to ACEs and PCEs
  • Participates in development, continuous refinement, and implementation of an ACEs and PCEs community action toolkit and process that is replicable in communities throughout the Chickasaw Nation
  • Participates in development and deployment of a communications plan to increase ACEs and PCEs awareness and actions
  • Maintains standardized records of activities to support program evaluation
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement projects to optimize reach and effectiveness of program activities
  • Prepares and provides presentations and other communications in support of program goals
  • Seeks out and participates in learning opportunities to expand knowledge of ACEs, PCEs, data to action strategies, community organizing approaches, and other skillsets relevant to successful community-engaged prevention and promotion work
  • Prepares reports as needed or requested
  • Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types
