Job description

Summary

As a member of the JCAmp and Youth Services Leadership Team, the responsibilities of the JCAmp and Youth Services Program Manager will work in collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director on Elementary, Middle and Teen programming, including leadership, social and community opportunities, support Winter, Spring and Summer JCAmp, JCAtion days when schools are closed and serve in a significant JCAmp role. This includes day-to-day implementation of Afterschool, Enrichment and Teen Connection programming, and assisting the Director with Staff supervision and evaluation. The JCAmp and Youth Services Program Manager is responsible for providing the necessary leadership to ensure the efficiency and success of the Department. This role requires regular evening and weekend oversight of programming.

Essential Functions

To ensure the well-being of each child in our programs by providing necessary support and department oversight for their safety and educational and emotional development by displaying knowledge and understanding of the developmental levels of the age group served by the Department and its programs.

To work with the Director and Assistant Director to develop systems designed to maximize the efficiency of the department, including communication and behavior management plans, staff and participant schedules, assist with supply ordering and purchase orders, and securing contract labor.

Manage After School, Teen Connection and JCAtion Day staff, providing feedback and redirection as appropriate and working in partnership with the Director on supervision and evaluations.

In partnership with the Director and Assistant Director, provide initial and ongoing training to JCAmp and youth Services staff.

Collaborate with the JCAmp and Youth Services Team, JCA Executive Leadership and key stakeholders in creating, providing and evaluating an array of teen engagement programs focused on leadership development, social and emotional development, service-learning opportunities and connection to JCA and JCCA programming.

Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide continuous feedback to promote staff growth and program improvement.

Assume a significant JCAmp Leadership role, including all responsibilities relevant to that assignment.

To keep the on and off-site Department areas safe, clean and aesthetically pleasing.

To work closely with the Assistant Director and other departments for the best utilization of space for program implementation.

To communicate (verbally and in writing) in a timely and professional fashion with supervisors, support staff and program participants, including parents, children, staff and vendors.

To build relationships with members, program participants and community supporters.

To utilize marketing, social media and public relations techniques as needed, in collaboration with the Marketing Department, to grow programs in attendance and engagement.

To complete all paperwork required to support the Assistant Director in maintaining smooth operations.

To follow guidelines and applicable requirements by the Florida Department of Children and Families, American Camping Association, and other agencies and authorities.

To provide an environment in which Jewish awareness and appreciation of Jewish culture is fostered.

To help enforce the JCAmp and Youth Services Departmental policies such as illness policies, transportation procedures, kosher policy, etc.

To ensure the well-being of each child in the program by providing the adequate administrative support necessary for their safety and educational and emotional development.

To consistently display a positive and professional attitude towards our program when engaging in conversation with parents and members outside of the department. Create and maintain healthy and appropriate boundaries with staff and participants. Concerns should be expressed directly to the JCAmp and Youth Services Director.

To travel off-site to vendors and/or other such locations as necessary.

To attend all required staff and in-service meetings throughout the year.

To follow JCA policies and procedures and model them.

To dress appropriately, and professionally.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum bachelor's degree or higher, two years of prior experience in youth, teen and leadership programming, and a demonstrated track record of organizational success.

Language Skills

Ability in English to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Skills in oral communications, interviewing and selecting are required.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. This function requires the ability to calculate, compare, diagnose, estimate and verify.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities

Ability to pass driving and insurance screening; ability to safely operate JCA vehicles; possess or be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver's License.

Ability to work with computer software programs: TractionRec (Salesforce), UPace, Word, Excel and Outlook.

Familiar with copiers and calculators.

CPR/First Aid/AED certification or willing to attain.

Fingerprinting and background screening are a requirement of this position.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand and move throughout the building and on trips off-site. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and might occasionally need to lift young children to aid staff in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

The working conditions include two floors with steps and an elevator, air-conditioned. The employee must be able to tolerate heat for outdoor portions of the day. The noise level is usually noisy.
