This position is in-office every day at our East Point location and must be available to work weekend and flexible hours, as needed

About the Role: 

The Manager II, Operations at the Atlanta Community Food Bank plays a critical role in overseeing the repacking of fresh produce and protein items, ensuring that these essential foods are efficiently processed and safely prepared for distribution to those in need. This position is central to the food bank's mission of fighting hunger, as it focuses on minimizing waste, improving product quality, and enhancing the efficiency of repack operations to maximize the impact on the community. 

What You'll Do: 

Operations Management:  

  • Oversee daily repacking operations for protein and produce, ensuring efficiency and safety. 
  • Manage the flow of goods from receipt to repack, and storage. 
  • Develop and enforce protocols for quality control, safety, and sanitation in compliance with regulations. 
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels to reduce waste and ensure supply meets demand. 

Quality Assurance and Food Safety:  

  • Implement quality checks to ensure products meet safety and quality standards. 
  • Work closely with the Supply and Receiving teams to maintain compliance with food safety regulations. 
  • Manage food safety audits and address any compliance issues. 
  • Ensure all team members adhere to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines and other safety protocols. 

Leads a Successful Team: 

  • Execute department strategy by translating goals and initiatives into actionable plans for the team. 
  • Support daily operations by ensuring team members are productive, engaged, and meeting performance expectations.  
  • Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and real-time problem solving to support operational success.  
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, implementing improvement plans and ensuring adherence to organizational standards. 
  • Facilitate communication between staff and upper management, ensuring clarity on expectations, priorities, and progress. 
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members, ensuring they are equipped to perform their roles effectively. 
  • Foster a positive team environment, promoting collaboration, accountability, and strong morale within the department. 
  • Track and report team metrics to department leadership, identifying areas for improvement and successes in meeting goals.

  • Experience in training and onboarding new employees, focusing on compliance and safety. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to foster collaboration, maintain transparency, and build a positive team environment. 
  • Skilled in tracking operational metrics and reporting on daily progress, goals, and improvement areas.
