Job description

Job Summary

The project manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, budgeting, and execution of commercial construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This individual serves as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents. The project manager works closely with the project superintendent to maintain quality, safety, and schedule performance throughout the lifecycle of the project.


Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee all phases of commercial construction projects from initiation to completion
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and cost controls
  • Create, review, and execute subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and milestones with clients and senior leadership
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, owners, suppliers, field staff, and subcontractors
  • Lead project meetings and maintain detailed project documentation
  • Create, review and approve submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications
  • Monitor job cost reports and forecast project financial performance
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and company policies
  • Collaborate with the project superintendent to ensure site operations align with project goals
  • Requires regular and prompt attendance plus the ability to work well with others and work well as a team
  • Attend regular internal meetings for scheduling and project progress updates.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years experience in related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Compliance with drug testing program
  • Ability to pass child abuse, FBI, and state police background checks


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction practices including structural, architectural, and MEP systems
  • Experience with project management software and scheduling tools
