About This Role

We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable Maintenance Director to lead the physical plant operations of our facility. You will be responsible for keeping our building safe, compliant, and well-maintained — from Life Safety Code and CMS requirements to day-to-day repairs and grounds upkeep. If you know your way around a healthcare building, take regulatory compliance seriously, and lead by example — we want to meet you.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee all facility maintenance including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire suppression systems

  • Manage preventive maintenance schedules and ensure all required testing and documentation is current

  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, CMS Conditions of Participation, and OSHA standards

  • Maintain and test the emergency generator per CMS requirements

  • Conduct and document fire drills, fire alarm testing, and Life Safety inspections

  • Manage and supervise maintenance staff and outside contractors and vendors

  • Obtain bids, manage contracts, and control the maintenance department budget

  • Maintain grounds including snow removal, landscaping, and exterior upkeep

  • Prepare for and participate in state health department surveys related to the physical plant

  • Respond to facility maintenance emergencies promptly including after-hours as needed

  • Serve on the Safety Committee and support the facility's emergency preparedness plan

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or institutional setting preferred

  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems

  • Familiarity with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and CMS physical plant requirements

  • Experience with fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, and emergency generator testing

  • EPA 608 Certification preferred

  • Valid driver's license required

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying environmental conditions

  • Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies as needed
