Job Description

Position Summary 
The Wedding & Event Sales Manager is responsible for selling and managing all catering events for the hotel and will heavily focus on wedding business. This position contracts all catering-only programs for the hotel and supports the Conference Service Manager in oversight of the Catering/Banquet department staff training and compliance with all hotel policies. This position communicates all event details and expectations to all department heads by conducting weekly BEO meetings and acts as a liaison between client and the hotel from initial sales inquiry to event completion and final billing. This position reports to the Director of Sales.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 plus sales incentive plan. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities
•    Sell and contract wedding groups, social groups, and catering events sold and contracted through the hotel
•    Responsible for responding to all incoming catering and other leads as assigned within (1) business day of receipt 
•    Complete the sales process from initial sales contact through contract signing, ensuring a smooth customer experience
•    Conduct Group and Catering site tours with clients/potential clients
•    Assist the Conference Service Manager in the coordination of events presented by the Catering and Sales departments, as well as in-house events with affiliated departmental team members overseeing client relationships as needed 
•    Create tracking tools for accounting to trace and collect deposits for all contracted group events, acting as the Key Delphi Operator for the Banquet & Catering department
•    Produce, sales correspondence, contracts/proposals, memos and manuals as directed by the Director of Sales, Director of Operations, and Food & Beverage Managers
•    Assist the Conference Service Manager in producing and communicating Banquet Event Orders and event resumes with clients and hotel team members 
•    Review event final bills with accounting to ensure correct billing procedures are followed
•    Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements 
•    Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred
•    Minimum of 2 years of experience in hotel sales with a focus on corporate and social catering events required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 
•    Proficient knowledge in catering, sales & food & beverage experience 
•    Proficient knowledge of hotel fire and safety procedures 
•    Knowledge of Sales Force/Delphi, HMS and Microsoft Office applications 
•    Knowledge of catering management and business inquiries within sales
•    Knowledge of advertising and promotional marketing
•    Creative menu planning skills 
•    Excellent organizational, public relation and supervisory skills
•    Strong written and oral English communication skills
•    Strong multitasking skills, executing projects delegated by your manager and other departments as business volumes and staff levels fluctuate
•    Ability to be a leader of catering/banquet employees at events around hotel guests and group clients
•    Ability to ensure quality standards in service and presentation 
•    Ability to ensure appropriate coverage for the sales/catering office with the team 
•    Ability to explain hotel accommodations and services, while selling food and beverage products and services
•    Ability to work cooperatively with people especially clients and staff
•    Ability to follow budgets and implement accounting procedures as needed

•    Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements 
•    No adverse or hazardous conditions
•    Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance
