Scope of Work: Organizes, coordinates, and implements community activities for adults 55+, and recreation programs as needed. Provides supervision for programs, events, and trips, ensuring adherence to safety practices and the delivery of high-quality experiences.
Supervision: Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor - Aquatics, Fitness & Community Engagement. Supervision may be exercised over staff and volunteers.
Essential Job Functions
  1. Recruit, schedule, and supervise staff, volunteers, and contractual entertainment for programs and events. Frequently visits programs at satellite locations.
  2. Collaborate with the Recreation Supervisor to plan, organize, and implement 55+ community activities.
  3. Coordinate with vendors for pricing, equipment, and supplies; oversee event readiness, site inspections, setup, and takedown.
  4. Provide direct supervision during events; enforce safety rules, emergency procedures, and WPRF operational standards.
  5. Respond to public inquiries, manage on-site relations, and assist adults in accessing community social services.
  6. Verify and submit staff/volunteer hours; lead trainings, evaluations, and communication with staff and volunteers.
  7. Prepare and distribute promotional materials (brochures, flyers, newsletters) for adult 55+ programs and activities.
  8. Monitor supply and equipment needs, submit reports, and address concerns with the Recreation Supervisor.
  9. Complete evaluations and grant reporting documentation. Other Duties as assigned.

  1. Work is indoors/outdoors; The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, wetness and humidity. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various types of equipment.
  2. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, prolonged visual concentration and the ability to adjust focus.
  3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  4. The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  5. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Wage: $20.00-$24.00 Per hour
Schedule: 15 hours per week: This is classified as a seasonal position, and hours are flexible according to the programs supervised. Generally, the position works 10:30 to 3:30 Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Requirements of Work
  1. Minimum age 18.
  2. Current American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or obtained within first year).
  3. Ability to assign duties and supervise staff, volunteers, and contractors.
  4. Associate's degree in recreation, geriatrics, social work, or related field preferred.
  5. Two years of related experience (municipal parks and recreation preferred) or equivalent education/experience.
  6. Member of Wisconsin Association of Senior Centers (WASC) or willingness to join.
  7. Knowledge of equipment, facilities, operations, and techniques in community recreation programs.
