Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The Nazareth University Nursing Department is seeking a Director of Clinical Education at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The Director of Clinical Education will oversee the clinical phase of an innovative hybrid Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Program.
Essential Functions
• Oversee the ongoing recruitment, support, development, and evaluation of clinical
preceptors and rotation sites for supervised clinical practice experiences
• Ensure ongoing compliance with CCNE accreditation standards and NYSED Nursing
Program registration standards related to WHNP clinical education
• Responsible for the development and oversight of student assessment, to include
remediation, for the clinical phase of the program
• Ensure students have met health screening and immunization requirements of
assigned clinical rotation sites
• Maintain accurate student records and enforce academic policies consistent with
the University, College and Program
• Ensure students are adequately prepared to achieve programmatic benchmarks
and obtain NCC WHNP board certification
• Collaborate with the WHNP Program Director on ongoing assessment of student
performance toward attaining the program's Student Learning Outcomes
• Conduct and manage site visits to preceptors and students during clinical rotations
• Oversee student academic progression, retention and completion strategies
• Actively engage with programmatic evaluation
• Participate in the student recruitment, selection and admissions process
• Develop and deliver academic courses as assigned, to include curriculum
development, teaching and student assessment
• Assist with curriculum evaluation and improvement
• Perform student evaluations of objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs),
lab practicals, and clinical skills and procedure sessions during the didactic and
clinical phases of the program
• Provide remedial instruction and reassessment as needed
• Participate in the academic counseling of students as assigned
• Serve on departmental, college and university committees as assigned
• Participate in developing, reviewing and revising the mission statement, program
goals and program competencies, as necessary
• Conduct and disseminate scholarship
• Other duties as assigned
Required Education, Experience, Technology and Skills
• Master's degree, doctorate preferred
• Unencumbered WHNP license in New York State
• Prior higher education teaching experience
• Prior experience as principal faculty in a WHNP program preferred
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Skilled in working with a variety of different student learning styles
• Ability to perform duties autonomously with minimal supervision
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines
Preferred Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills
• Experience in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of
clinical WHNP education
• Experience in the successful recruitment and development of clinical
