Founded in 1869, Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association (OGCMA) is one of the longest-active camp meeting sites in the United States. Rooted in a Wesleyan-Holiness theological heritage, OGCMA is a vibrant, year-round Christian community on the New Jersey shore. Our mission is to be the seaside community where all generations can know and grow in Jesus — through worship, education, cultural programming, and recreational activities in a beautiful coastal setting.

As a trustee-led ministry, the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association is guided by a Board of Trustees that regularly oversees the organization's mission, vision, and ministry priorities. The Program Director serves under this governance structure, ensuring that all programming reflects the values and strategic direction established by the Board.

Direct Reports: Program Coordinator, Graphic Designer, Program Tech Support, Recreation Coordinator, Grove Hall Manager, HUB Manager, Music Staff, Auxiliary Volunteer Leadership (Ushers, Choir, and Ladies Auxiliary)

Position Summary

OGCMA is seeking a passionate, organized, and Christ-centered Program Director to lead the comprehensive planning, administration, and execution of the organization's worship services, spiritual formation programs, cultural events, guest services, and recreational activities. This is a highly collaborative, multi-faceted leadership role that requires both strategic vision and hands-on implementation. The Program Director works closely with the Program Chair and the Program Committee to ensure excellence in programming and alignment with ministry.

Key Responsibilities

Worship & Spiritual Programming

• Plan and oversee 14 Sunday morning and some Sunday night programs, and Saturday night worship services

• Coordinate weekday worship opportunities and Gospel Musical Ministries

• Manage speaker selection, logistics, and hospitality

• Oversee Children's Church and all Youth Ministries programs

Cultural Events & Community Programming

• Coordinate cultural events, including Summer Stars, Organ Concerts, Atlantic Wind Ensemble, and Summer Band

• Organize community events such as the Parade and Illumination Night

• Plan & coordinate Women's Retreat, Men's Retreat, Christmas in Ocean Grove, and Night of Worship

Administration & Operations

• Develop and manage program budgets; handle expense accounting and reconciliation

• Negotiate and execute artist and vendor agreements

• Oversee production of the Program Guide, website content, social media, and outdoor signage

• Lead weekly staff and committee meetings; manage Google Calendar for the department

• Prepare and disseminate employee paperwork; coordinate across departments

Guest Services & Recreation

• Oversee Grove Hall Retreat & Conference Center and The HUB Welcome Center | Christian Books and Gifts

• Manage recreational programming, including tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, and Fitness Faith & Fun

Staff & Volunteer Leadership

• Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and support staff

• Supervise Directors of Youth, Children's, and Performing Arts Ministry

• Support and coordinate volunteer groups, including the Ladies Auxiliary, Ushers, and Choir

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Ministry, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field required; Master of Divinity or Theology preferred

• A personal, active, and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, reflected in a life of integrity and service

• Full alignment with the mission, vision, and Statement of Faith of OGCMA

• Proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs in a ministry or nonprofit setting

• Strong organizational skills with experience managing budgets and multiple concurrent projects

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking

• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, committees, and community stakeholders

• Creative thinker with strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

• Experience with marketing tools, including social media, print, and digital platforms
