Job description

Job Summary

The Sepsis Program Director is responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of a systemwide Sepsis Program across inpatient, emergency, and ambulatory care settings. The role provides clinical leadership, performance oversight, and subject-matter expertise to ensure early recognition, timely intervention, and evidence-based management of sepsis and septic shock. This position aligns sepsis care processes with Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) adult guidelines, Sepsis 3 definitions, CDC Hospital Sepsis Program Core Elements, and CMS sepsis quality programs (SEP 1) and other applicable regulatory or value-based programs. The Sepsis Program Director partners with multidisciplinary stakeholders to improve clinical outcomes, patient experience, regulatory performance, and value while promoting reliable, standardized sepsis care delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

Degrees:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or other related health care field

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Certificate in related clinical specialty (e.g., CCRN, CEN, CPHQ, Med-surg or other approved critical care/quality credentials) within two (2) years of hire
  • Basic Life Support from an American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) approved program
  • Registered Nurse State of Texas or valid multi-state/compact license

Work Experience:

  • Five (5) Years Work Experience In related clinical area of practice (i.e., Emergency Center, ICU, and/or Medical‑Surgical)

Management Experience:

  • Three (3) Years of Management Experience in management or supervisory capacity

Communication Skills:

  • Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)
