Job description

Headquartered in New York with a nationally-scaled platform, RXR is a 450+ person, vertically integrated investment manager with expertise in a wide array of value creation activities, including acquisitions, asset and portfolio management, property operations, development, construction, leasing, and technological innovation. RXR is an active investor in real estate credit, rental housing, commercial property, and property technology through value-added and opportunistic investment strategies.
SUMMARY:
The Engineering Development Manager plays an integral role in the overall success of RXR's engineering department. Under the leadership of the VP - Head of Engineering, this role will provide robust engineering oversight for all development and construction programs for the RXR portfolio. Partnering with internal and external stakeholders, the Manager will provide critical input throughout all stages of the development and construction management processes, ensuring operational best-in-class standards integration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Integrate engineering best practices into the development and construction process in concert with the onsite Property Management and Engineering Teams.
  • Monitor and track all development and construction-related activities throughout the portfolio. Provide situation status updates to key stakeholders. Escalate potential and actualized issues through appropriate protocols.
  • Perform engineering analytics as they relate to development and construction projects: energy analysis, capital/operational cost impacts, logistical impacts. Effectively communicate analytic results to inform decision-making.
  • Provide oversight of critical infrastructure projects, planning guidelines, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Engage and manage 3rd party consultants throughout processes.
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure compliance as related to proper construction and project administration from scope inception to closeout.
  • Review and assist in the management and engineering review of potential leasing transactions throughout the portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with building and commissioning requirements.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with the Property Teams.
  • Manage multi-year capital infrastructure and expenditure plans for assigned assets.
  • Manage collection and archiving of all critical documentation. Ensure that team members are properly providing all development and construction documentation (drawings, schematics, equipment operations manuals, warranty documents, etc.). Review design and construction documentation throughout the development/construction process and provide feedback/comments accordingly.
  • Manage engineering projects throughout the portfolio and firm, from scope inception through closeout and project turnover.
  • Perform additional job duties as requested.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
  • Minimum two-year technical degree in engineering or related field. Minimum five years experience in construction management, engineering design, commissioning, or equivalent industry experience
  • Thorough knowledge of building HVAC, electrical, plumbing, automation, and life safety/fire protection systems; thorough understanding of all building related codes and standards
  • Skills in critical systems such as emergency/stand-by generators, automatic transfer switches, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, power distribution systems, UPS batteries, etc.
  • Fundamental skills in HVAC systems such as Cooling Towers, Chillers, Pumps, Air Handler Units, Fan Coil Units, VRF systems, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, and various measuring and testing devices
  • Technical proficiency in operations of Building Management Systems and Life Safety Systems
  • Proficiency with Procore or related construction management platforms
  • Proficiency with CAD/BIM oriented platforms
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing people and customers. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong strategic thinker and planner. Ability to analyze large amounts of data to support operational decisions. Strong analytical ability to think about all the factors that might affect a situation and ability to create solutions to move forward
  • Strong organizational skills and complement abilities (i.e. how resources can be arranged for maximum productivity)
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, and crisis management skills. Must be able to work under intense deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a team member's base salary/rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g. location, years of service, specialty, education, relevant experience).
