Duties & Responsibilities
Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under supervision of the Director of Employee Relations, the Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for investigating employee complaints as it relates to harassment and/or hostile work environment matters in accordance with applicable laws and System policies. The Employee Relations Specialist will administer managerial training, conduct review of referrals, provide recommendations on intervention plans and track and trend employee relations and off boarding matters.
General tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Investigates sensitive and or complex employee relations matters from start to finish including conducting thorough intake, leading effective investigative interviews, documenting findings, preparing investigative summaries, and following up with the relevant parties for each assigned case
  • Plans and coordinates managerial training sessions including organizing and developing of material, scheduling, and managing enrollment rosters
  • Conducts general or specialized training sessions covering areas concerned with promotional development, retraining, leadership, management development, and adaptations to changes in policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Collaborates with retention council and facilitates unit touchpoints with division designees to address areas of opportunity and develop interventions
  • Serves as a member of the Employee Feed Back Survey Quad and assists departments with creating intervention plans based on survey results
  • Plans and coordinates activities such as focus groups, post training evaluations, and completes follow up actions to meet training program objectives
  • Collaborates with the Offboarding Specialist in administering exit surveys and data tracking and reporting
  • Maintains accuracy and integrity of all applicable trackers and spreadsheets for all employee relations and offboarding matters
  • Partners with the Director of Employee Relations to identify trends to understand areas of opportunity and offer recommendations for improvement
  • Assists with the implementation and development of policies, programs and procedures related to employee relations, retention, leadership training and off boarding
  • Maintains employee disciplinary records to ensure compliance with company policies, support fair decision making, and uphold a consistent and transparent approach in assessing employee performance and conduct
  • Reviews all separation requests with the Director of Employee Relations and assists in conducting authorized involuntary employee separation activities, including preparation of standard letters, and distribution of notifications of involuntary separations to appropriate HR team members and other departments (IT, Security, Payroll etc.)
  • Ensures all facility property and ID are collected after involuntary termination actions
  • Resolves or appropriately routes general employee relations inquiries
  • Tracks, trends, and reports facility employee relations data to Director of Employee Relations on a weekly basis
  • Ensures all relevant HR practices and policies are being followed
  • Participates in all applicable regulatory preparation
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
* Qualifications for Central Office.
** Qualifications for Health Care Facilities.
1. A Baccalaureate Degree in Management, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology or related field, with emphasis on personnel administration, employee and management relations or related discipline from an accredited college or university; and,
2. Five* or three** years experience in personnel management, employee relations, management or public administration, with at least three* or one** year(s) of progressively responsible experience in personnel management, employee relations programs, administration and benefits in a large public or private organization; and,
3. Comprehensive knowledge of theory and principles and their application to personnel administration in employee relations, including aspects of training, employee development, labor relations, knowledge of research design trends and developments in personnel, employee relations and general management fields; or,
4. A satisfactory equivalent of education, training and experience.
