Job description

Overview

We are partnering with an innovative architectural building products organization to identify a Business Development Manager responsible for driving market growth throughout Southern California. This is a remote, field-based sales role covering Greater Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and surrounding markets, with regular regional travel and periodic national travel.

This role carries a dual mandate. Initially, the Business Development Manager will focus on developing new business opportunities and building strategic relationships across the architecture, design, development, and construction communities throughout Southern California. As the business continues to grow, the role will evolve to include recruiting, onboarding, and leading a network of independent manufacturer's representatives across key U.S. markets while maintaining accountability for territory growth and market expansion.

Working closely with internal marketing, operations, customer service, and product teams, this highly visible position is ideal for a consultative sales professional who thrives in specification-driven sales environments and enjoys building long-term relationships with architects, designers, developers, builders, contractors, and other key industry decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to grow market share throughout Southern California
• Identify and cultivate new business opportunities within the architecture, design, development, and construction industries
• Build and maintain relationships with architects, designers, developers, builders, general contractors, subcontractors, installers, and property owners
• Generate and manage a healthy pipeline of specification opportunities across commercial and luxury residential projects
• Conduct project site visits to strengthen customer relationships and support successful project execution
• Deliver product presentations, educational seminars, and design consultations to architects, designers, and industry professionals
• Position premium architectural building products as preferred specification solutions for commercial and residential projects
• Research market trends, project activity, and competitive intelligence to identify growth opportunities
• Negotiate project pricing, proposals, and agreements in collaboration with internal leadership
• Maintain accurate CRM records, sales activity, and project pipeline reporting
• Represent the organization at industry events, trade shows, networking functions, and customer meetings
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure an exceptional customer experience from initial engagement through project completion
• Recruit, onboard, and develop independent manufacturer's representative agencies as national market expansion initiatives are implemented
• Establish performance expectations, provide product training, and support the long-term success of future representative partners

Ideal Background

• Five or more years of business development, outside sales, or account management experience within architectural building products, construction products, or specification-driven sales environments
• Established network within the Southern California architecture, design, development, or construction communities preferred
• Experience selling to architects, designers, developers, builders, contractors, and related construction professionals
• Understanding of specification sales and commercial project development processes
• Experience delivering presentations and educational programs to design professionals preferred
• Knowledge of exterior building products, façade systems, cladding, or related construction materials preferred
• Experience using CRM platforms such as Zoho or similar systems
• Strong business acumen with excellent negotiation and relationship management skills
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field preferred

What We're Looking For

We are seeking an entrepreneurial business development professional who is passionate about building relationships, creating new market opportunities, and delivering long-term growth. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, consultative, and equally comfortable working independently in the field or collaborating across multiple departments. This individual possesses strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and the leadership ability to eventually recruit, develop, and support a national network of independent manufacturer's representatives as the organization continues to expand.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive compensation package
• Comprehensive benefits package
• Company-issued technology and business tools
• Business travel reimbursement
• Professional development and career advancement opportunities
• Opportunity to help build and shape a growing national sales organization
