We are recruiting for a Bilingual Coordinator, MT Academy & CDP Programs to join our team in our Toronto or Vancouver office. The successful candidate must have a minimum of five years of experience in a program development and implementation role with significant administrative responsibilities as well as experience interfacing with senior professionals and members of the business community and will be responsible for owning and administering all aspects of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements across all jurisdictions in which the Firm operates and providing administrative and co-ordination for all lawyer programming. McCarthy Tétrault employees benefit from a hybrid work environment. 

Salary Range (Toronto or Vancouver Only): $58,000 – $65,000 annually. The offered salary may vary based on the candidate’s job-specific knowledge, skills, and experience.


As a Bilingual Coordinator, MT Academy & CDP Programs , you will be:

MT Academy - Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Strategy, Compliance and Delivery


Owning and administering all aspects of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements across all jurisdictions in which the Firm operates, ensuring compliance, consistency and strategic alignment with the MT Academy. Duties include:

  • Developing and maintaining deep knowledge of CPD accreditation requirements across all applicable jurisdictions and monitoring changes to regulatory regimes.
  • Establishing and maintaining national standards and best practices for CPD accreditation, tracking and compliance across all MT Academy programming.
  • Supporting the effective use and continuous improvement of CPD-related systems, tools and best practices (e.g., learning management systems and tracking tools) to ensure accurate recording and reporting of CPD activity.
  • Leading the accreditation process for all eligible internal and external programming, including preparing and submitting applications, tracking approvals and maintaining accreditation records.
  • Ensuring accurate CPD accreditation language is incorporated into all program communications, including invitations, reminders, confirmations and post-program materials for both internal and client-facing programs. 
  • Owning national CPD tracking processes, including overseeing attendance tracking and the collection, verification and maintenance of attendance records for all eligible CPD activities (e.g. MT Academy program, practice group meetings and client-facing sessions), credit allocation, and supporting lawyers in meeting their individual CPD obligations across jurisdictions.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for CPD-related inquiries, providing guidance to lawyers, practice groups and internal stakeholders on accreditation, eligibility and compliance requirements.
  • Co-ordinating with MT Academy team members and other stakeholders to support CPD requirements for multi-jurisdictional programs, and maintain oversight of lawyers with obligations in multiple regions to support them in identifying and completing eligible programming.
  • Partnering with our Clients and Markets team responsible for client-facing programming to ensure external programs meet accreditation requirements and are appropriately structured and documented.
  • Preparing CPD-related reporting and analytics, including tracking participation, compliance status and trends to inform planning and decision-making.

MT Academy – Programming Support 


Providing administrative and co-ordination for all lawyer programming that comprise MT Academy and the MT Professional Journey, student programs, and various mandatory Firm-wide programs.  Duties may include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Supporting the coordination of program logistics, including scheduling, materials, and technology requirements, as needed.
  • Preparing and distributing program communications, including invitations, reminders, confirmations and follow-up materials.
  • Assisting with the preparation and distribution of program materials and ensuring appropriate branding is applied.
  • Supporting the coordination of program evaluations and assisting in the preparation of summary reports, as required.
  • Maintaining and updating program information, including national and regional MT Academy programs and practice group meetings, in relevant calendars and systems.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of program protocols, tracking systems and administrative processes.
  • Supporting the administration of programs and events in the client-facing MT Academy portfolio. 

MT Academy -  Administration & Co-ordination


Administering and co-ordinating the work of MT Academy. Duties to include: 

  • Applying the MT Academy brand on all work products including notices, invitations, agendas, reports, charts and outlines and being pro-active in identifying opportunities to include same in the work of others in the Professional Journey Office and Professional Resources Group.
  • Working co-operatively with other members of the Professional Journey Office and Professional Resources Group to complete assignments and achieve objectives.
  • Co-ordinating and collaborating with members of MT Academy in the application of project management principles to all aspects of the work of MT Academy with a view to contributing to ongoing efficiencies and consistencies in such work.
  • Attending, and when requested, organizing MT Academy meetings, including preparing agendas and minutes for same, using Teams, webinar tools, video conferencing, or such other systems.  Also attending Professional Resources Group meetings.
  • Responding promptly to requests and inquiries from internal and external clients – providing them needed direction, assistance, materials and resources.
  • Assisting in the preparation of various plans, reports and charts that describe, track or provide updates on education programs.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of all protocols and tracking systems.
  • Arranging for payment of consultant invoices, fees or charges for attendance at programs by lawyers or incurred on behalf of the Education Team.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

As our ideal candidate, you will distinguish yourself by the following profile:

  • Undergraduate university or college degree. Study related to adult learning an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a program development and implementation role with significant administrative responsibilities as well as experience interfacing with senior professionals and members of the business community. Law firm or other professional services firm experience preferred. Event management an asset. 
  • Significant flexibility in order to deliver various education programs including flexible lunch hours, arrival and departure times as well as some evening work during heavy workload periods. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable speaking to groups of students and lawyers at programs or meetings.
  • Fluency in English and French, both spoken and written, required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable working with lawyers, clients and staff individually and in teams.
  • High level of service orientation with the ability to problem solve independently and practically.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative with exceptional organizational and time management skills, and who works efficiently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a fast pace and manage multiple demands under pressure by prioritizing, being practical and results-oriented.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail along with a numeric aptitude.
