Your Role: Driving Financial Performance Through Data and Analysis

The Cost Control Specialist is responsible for the acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of operational and equipment-related data to support informed decision-making. This role helps ensure the efficient use of resources through planning, tracking, forecasting, and reporting of costs associated with labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and services. The successful candidate will partner closely with Project Managers, Area Managers, Operations, and Finance teams to improve cost visibility, minimize risk, and support operational excellence.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide cost analysis and reporting support to Project Managers and Area Managers.
  • Monitor actual versus budgeted costs by contract, asset, service line, or operational activity.
  • Identify and analyze cost variances related to labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, penalties, and other operational expenditures.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly cost reports, performance dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review.
  • Support forecasting efforts by providing cost trends, risk analysis, and budget adjustment recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely cost data within company systems, including ERP, CMMS, HeavyJob, Power BI, and other reporting platforms.
  • Ensure operational activities are executed within approved budget assumptions and financial targets.
  • Analyze equipment utilization, asset performance, and operational data to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with asset management and maintenance practices to support operational decision-making.
  • Proactively identify project or operational issues, recommend corrective actions, and escalate concerns as appropriate.
  • Participate in site visits, operational reviews, and project meetings to gain insight into field activities and cost drivers.
  • Collaborate with operations, finance, and leadership teams to improve reporting accuracy and consistency.
  • Support contract compliance initiatives and assist in the management of contractual risks, penalties, and performance metrics.
  • Complete reports and analyses accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Continuously develop technical and analytical skills to support evolving business needs.
  • Manage multiple assignments and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform other duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.
