Position Summary:

The Development Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the mission and fundraising goals of UNC Health Nash Foundation through the management of fundraising events, annual giving campaigns, donor engagement initiatives, and strategic communications efforts. This position serves as the primary coordinator for the Foundation's signature fundraising events and designated annual giving campaigns, with responsibility for driving revenue growth, expanding donor participation, strengthening community engagement, and enhancing donor stewardship.ย 

The Development Coordinator develops and executes event, marketing, and communication strategies that support philanthropic objectives, increase awareness of the Foundation's impact, and foster meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, grateful patients, employees, and community stakeholders. Working closely with the Executive Director, Foundation staff, volunteer committees, and hospital leadership, the position combines project management, fundraising, event planning, marketing, and donor engagement responsibilities to support the Foundation's annual and long-term fundraising success.ย 

The Development Coordinator would be responsible for everything listed below along with all other duties as assigned while requiring a high level of attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, mission driven environment.

ย Responsibilities:

1. ย Serves as a highly visible representative of UNC Health Nash and the UNC Health Nash Foundation

Serves as an advocate for Nash services and Foundation programs.

Serves as a key member of UNC Health Nash Foundation's development team.

Develops and maintains positive professional relationships with board members, physicians, donors, potential donors, co-workers, visitors and volunteers.

Makes requested presentations to civic, church, service, social and other community organizations as a spokesperson for UNC Health Nash Foundation. Establishes and maintains cooperative/collaborative working relationships with department leaders and staff within the hospital and other UNC Health Nash facilities.

ย 2. ย Administrative Support

Support donor acknowledgement and stewardship process.

  • Manage internal scholarship program (Zipf Professional Development Scholarship)

Maintains and updates Foundation Wall of Honor on an ongoing basis, and all signage for donor recognition.

Prepare materials for Board and committee meetings; serve as recording secretary and maintain official records.

Organize and maintain the Foundation's policies and procedures manual

Maintains inventory of office supplies and ensures smooth day-to-day operations.

Maintains positive relationships with Board members, donors, visitors, volunteers, physicians, and co-workers.

ย 3. ย Event Management

Lead the planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of the Foundation's signature fundraising events, donor cultivation events, and recognition activities, ensuring alignment with fundraising goals, donor engagement strategies, and organizational priorities.

Serve as the primary project manager for assigned fundraising events, developing comprehensive event plans, timelines, budgets, communication strategies, and implementation schedules to ensure successful outcomes.

Collaborate with the Executive Director, volunteer committees, sponsors, vendors, and community partners to develop and execute event strategies that maximize attendance, sponsorship support, donor engagement, and philanthropic revenue.

Manage all aspects of event logistics, including venue coordination, vendor selection and management, contracts, permits, registrations, catering, audiovisual needs, entertainment, volunteer coordination, and day-of-event execution.

Develop and implement event marketing, sponsorship, and attendee engagement strategies utilizing email marketing, social media, website content, direct outreach, and other promotional channels.

Identify opportunities to increase event revenue through sponsorship development, ticket sales, underwriting opportunities, donor upgrades, auction enhancements, raffle programs, and other fundraising initiatives.

Track and monitor event revenue, expenses, sponsorship commitments, attendance metrics, and return on investment; prepare post-event analyses and recommendations to improve future performance.

Coordinate event stewardship activities, including sponsor recognition, donor acknowledgment, volunteer appreciation, and post-event communication strategies.

Maintain accurate event records, sponsorship information, auction and raffle tracking, donor participation data, and financial documentation in accordance with Foundation policies and procedures.

Evaluate event outcomes against established goals and recommend innovative strategies to strengthen fundraising results, attendee engagement, and overall event impact.

ย 4. ย Campaign Management and Annual Giving

Lead the planning, execution and evaluation of assigned annual giving campaigns, including Lights of Love and Power of Pink.

Develop and implement campaign strategies designed to increase revenue, donor participation, sponsorship support and overall engagement including designing campaign materials, donor communications, and promotional content in collaboration with the Development Officer.

Identify opportunities to grow campaign revenue through donor cultivation, sponsorship development, peer-to-peer outreach, matching gifts, payroll deduction participation, and other fundraising strategies.

Serve as the primary coordinator for campaign-related donor stewardship, ensuring timely acknowledgment, recognition, and follow-up communication to strengthen donor relationships and encourage future giving.

Generate and send timely, personalized gift acknowledgments, tax receipts, memorial and honorarium notifications, and other donor correspondence.

ย 5. ย Digital Communications, Marketing and Online Presence

Lead the development and execution of digital marketing and communication strategies that increase donor engagement, campaign participation, event attendance, and philanthropic revenue.

Develop, manage, and distribute a quarterly Foundation newsletter highlighting donor impact, funding priorities, patient stories, campaign outcomes, grant-funded initiatives, and Foundation news.

Create and implement multi-channel marketing campaigns for fundraising initiatives, events, annual giving programs, and donor stewardship efforts utilizing email, social media, website content, print collateral, and internal communications.

Develop and manage segmented email marketing strategies to engage donors, prospects, grateful patients, employees, volunteers, sponsors, and community stakeholders through targeted communications and personalized fundraising appeals.

Maintain and update the UNC Health Nash Foundation website to ensure content is current, accurate, visually appealing, and aligned with fundraising priorities, campaign timelines, and organizational goals.

Create, schedule, and manage engaging content for social media platforms to promote Foundation initiatives, donor and patient impact stories, fundraising campaigns, volunteer opportunities, events, and community partnerships.

ย Develop marketing content including email campaigns, fundraising appeals, impact reports, donor stewardship communications, event promotions, digital advertisements, presentations, and other collateral supporting Foundation objectives.

Monitor and analyze website traffic, email performance, social media engagement, and digital campaign results; prepare reports and recommend strategies to improve audience engagement, donor acquisition, retention, and fundraising outcomes.

Collaborate with Foundation staff and hospital leadership to identify compelling stories and impact opportunities that showcase the mission of UNC Health Nash Foundation and encourage philanthropic support.

Coordinate with the hospital's Marketing and Communications team to ensure brand consistency, message alignment, and compliance with UNC Health and UNC Health Nash communication standards.

Maintain an annual communications calendar that integrates fundraising campaigns, events, stewardship activities, donor recognition opportunities, and organizational priorities.

Evaluate emerging digital communication tools, fundraising technologies, and marketing best practices to strengthen donor engagement and expand the Foundation's reach.
