Job description

Job Summary Develops, implements, plans, schedules, monitors, and supervises more complex department-specific programs; monitors compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to specific projects; performs other duties as assigned. The hiring salary for this position is $73,986 - $77,792 annually; full salary range for this position is $73,986 - $127,400 annually. Essential Functions Responsible for current and future permitted park usage by volunteer sports leagues and community users provided by or coordinated through this position; Responsible for planning, facility and league scheduling, recruiting and training volunteers, purchase of equipment, and coordinating park amenities maintenance needs; Responsible for implementing Community Standards policies aimed to ensure safety and wellbeing of all league youth athletes and volunteer coaches requiring confidentiality and swift action; Conduct promotion of parks services and amenities in a professional and successful manner; Develop clear and professional communication resources for park amenities and services in a timely and concise manner to citizens and staff; Responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of hourly park staff during scheduled use and special events that may include sports, volunteer groups and events throughout the county parks; Must determine operational needs; plan, recruit, hire, train, and monitor staff to provide direct services for all user groups; Assists in the promotion of all services, coordinates and schedules facilities and develops a financial accountability system; Performs other duties as assigned and areas of program coordinator responsibility may shift across other coordinators to support the department.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. Mary's County Government policies and procedures; Ability to act as a representative of St. Mary's County Government to the public; Expert knowledge of department practices and procedures and of the practices, procedures, and concepts of the assigned programs; Knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations relative to the operations of specific projects and programs; Ability to effectively communicate with other staff members; Ability to effectively monitor staff performance; Ability to develop, implement, prioritize, and coordinate program-related activities; Ability to use available resources to research information; Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records; Ability to operate relevant computer systems, including hardware and software.

Education and Experience Bachelor's degree; Five years or more of related experience; Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience. Additional Requirements: Must successfully pass background investigation with favorable results; Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Physical and Environmental Conditions: Work requires light physical effort in the handling of light materials or boxes and tools or equipment in non-strenuous work positions up to 30 pounds and/or continual standing or walking of 60%/+ of the time.

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings and training rooms.
