Job description

Qualifications: Minimum GED or High School Diploma and be at least 21 years of age.  At least 2 years’ experience in youth services is preferred.  Associate or bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Direct Supervisor: Learn and Grow Program Coordinator

General Description: The Learn and Grow Program Specialist is charged with the responsibility to plan, organize, and conduct all activities at the Learn and Grow program site as assigned by Program Coordinator. The Learn and Grow Program Specialist is also responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator in the day-to-day operation of the program.

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  2. Maintain confidentiality always in regard to both clients and personnel issues.
  3. Organized, thorough, assertive, and proactive.
  4. Positive work ethic, willingness and ability to allow for a flexible schedule.
  5. Understanding of and ability to promote teamwork.
  6. Experience in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education.
  7. Ability to change as the job changes.

Duties to Be Performed


  1. Plan activities that align with STEM goals that are engaging to children K‐ 6th.
  2. Development of STEM curriculum aligned with career pathways that ensure the integration of academic and career technical education with 21st century skills. Encourage participation and the execution of creative and innovative ideas during various building activities.
  3. Plan for engaging activities that foster creativity and incorporate individual learning styles.
  4. Model leadership qualities to older children as emerging leaders and help younger youth with the understanding of various project concepts.
  5. Model leadership qualities to Program staff.
  6. Assist or lead activities and plan alongside other staff.
  7. Work as assigned with school districts, community organizations, government agencies, parents, students, and/or staff.
  8. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  9. Use planning time effectively to prepare plans daily, weekly, and monthly.
  10. Provide support to staff to follow the Agency’s mission, policies and procedures.
  11. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records according to grant specifications as required by law, agency policy, and administrative regulations.
  12. Maintain current records for EZ Child Track and EZ Reports.
  13. Record and provide written documentation for assigned grants.
  14. Assist with the Wyoming Department of Education and APR reports. Provide coordinator with current data in a timely manner to meet all deadlines.
  15. Coordinating and creating communication for parents/guardians/adults for the students of Learn and Grow.
  16. Coordinating activities with Learn and Grow office staff, parents/guardians, and community members.
  17. Maintaining an inventory of office supplies, equipment, and materials needed by the department.
  18. Processing purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  19. Updating and maintaining Learn and Grow calendars, agendas, and parent lists, take minutes for meetings, and other clerical duties as needed.
  20. Training new staff on office expectations/protocols.
  21. Training staff with curriculum, lesson planning (for all areas), assessments, and data management.
  22. Assist with hiring, interviewing, supervision, support, and evaluations as needed.
  23. Assist with scheduling, assuring adequate coverage, and anticipating demands.
  24. Engage with the students and program implementation daily, alongside site staff.
  25. Assist with supervisions and documentation of staff performance and growth.
