We are seeking a Program Coordinator who will be responsible for coordination of the Meals 4 Kids program which includes client intake, needs assessment and connection for eligible families; preparation, packaging and delivery of meals, training and scheduling of volunteers; maintenance of accurate records for clients and volunteers. Cross train as back-up for program staff. This position requires Spanish language fluency, both orally and written.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Conduct eligibility assessments with referred families within service area to assess eligibility for meals; to introduce the program, and to assess the need for other services. Conduct annual re-assessments as assigned.
Coordinate the on-time delivery of meals to participants following all standards developed by Meals on Wheels People
Perform Meals on Wheels delivery duties for routes lacking volunteer coverage in assigned service area
Ensure the proper preparation and on-time delivery of meals to program participants by following all standards
Follow up with participant if driver is unable to deliver the meal. Redeliver meals as necessary
Assist with meal packaging following Meals on Wheels People standards
Assist with scheduling and supervision of volunteers
Follow all guidelines to create and maintain a safe work environment
Maintain compliance with all governmental regulations and contracts
Maintain effective communication with Central Kitchen, program staff and volunteers
Participate in in-service training and attend required meetings
Other duties as assigned
Education & Knowledge
High School diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of food service procedures and current Oregon Food Handler’s Card
ServSafe Certification or ability to obtain one through Meals on Wheels People certification program
Knowledge of hunger relief services and resources preferred
Skills, Abilities & Experience
Bilingual English/Spanish verbal and written communication skills required
Ability to work with and manage volunteers
Strong organizational, record keeping, time management and multi-tasking skills including the ability to set priorities and be flexible to last-minute changes
Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with diverse populations including minority, low income and persons with disabilities
Ability to quickly learn new computer programs; experience with client data management systems preferred
Ability to repetitively move 35lbs; routinely moves cooler and cooler bags from one location to another and from various heights in preparation of and for the completion of meal delivery; ability to ascend stairs and move around on city sidewalks
Vehicle, valid driver license and insurance required to perform job duties
Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
