Title: Community Health Program Coordinator
Position Type: Limited Duration – Full Time
Salary: $21.26 - $25.01 hourly DOE
This position is eligible for a 5% bilingual differential if the successful candidate meets the Food Share standard on an oral proficiency exam.

This is a limited duration position, with an end date planned for December 31st, 2027. There is the potential to extend or become a regular position, dependent on funding availability.
Summary of Role:  The Community Health Program Coordinator develops and coordinates programs that address food insecurity through the lens of community health, or “food as medicine.” This position supports and coordinates distribution of food resources to Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members that qualify for the HRSN Nutrition Program. This position will coordinate ordering, preparation, distribution and delivery of food products, engage with clients, and train volunteers that support their work.

Your responsibilities as the Community Health Program Coordinator will include:
  • Coordinates distribution of Fruit and Vegetable Boxes and Pantry Stocking Food Boxes to up to 200 clients on a weekly basis.
  • Organizes, trains, coordinates and supports volunteer delivery drivers that deliver food boxes. Conducts home deliveries as needed when short on volunteers.
  • Assists with food box distribution at pick up locations, in collaboration with the Youth Farm Farm Share Rx distributions.
  • Purchases food for distribution program from a variety of vendors. Responsibly manage purchasing budget, plan for food variety, and coordinate logistics in collaboration with Food Resource Developers and warehouse staff.
  • Gathers program feedback from HRSN Nutrition Program participants.
  • Works with Youth Farm and Food Resourcing team to provide client feedback on food quantity, variety and other factors.
  • Conducts community outreach to reach HRSN-eligible OHP members to inform them about the program and answer questions.
  • Researches program models and best practices in other regions to help inform our service delivery model. Utilizes an equity lens to inform and determine service model.
  • Understands and interprets Oregon Health Authority and PacificSource rules and regulations to ensure compliance and support our program model.
  • Attend multiple monthly PacificSource HRSN Provider Meetings. Share program feedback, assist with troubleshooting and learn from other service providers.
  • Participate in the Oregon Community Food Systems Network (OCFSN) HRSN provider group.
  • Build relationships with other service providers as needed, in collaboration with VP of Programs. Share program successes and challenges, help improve our program via learnings from others across the state and country.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Conditions:
Work may be performed at a workstation, in a warehouse environment, at partner food pantry locations and at food distribution locations (such as parking lots, schools, farms and other locations). Work may be performed standing, kneeling or bending for prolonged periods of time. May include frequent driving for up to 1 hour each way. Work may be performed outside in all weather or in a warehouse environment. Will frequently lift, move and carry objects in excess of 50 pounds and push and pull loads up to or exceeding 1,500 pounds on carts and pallet jacks. Work is subject to varying indoor and outdoor temperatures and road and walkway surface in all seasons.
Hybrid/remote/onsite requirements:
This position requires on-site work. This position is not eligible for remote work/work at home.
The Food Share provides essential services to our neighbors in Marion and Polk counties. As a result, all Food Share employees may be asked to report to work during local public health, weather, or other environmental emergencies.

  • Able to work well under pressure with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities and exercise sound judgement daily.
  • Able to operate a pallet jack or willing to learn.
  • Able to drive a large, refrigerated box truck or willing to learn.
  • Able to lift up to 50-plus pounds repetitively and perform work while seating or standing for a prolonged period of time.
  • Ability to push/pull loads up to 1,500-plus pounds on carts and pallet jacks.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen (excluding THC) and full background check, including eligibility to work with vulnerable populations.
  • Must pass driving record check and be insurable through Marion-Polk Food Share’s vehicle insurance policy.

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience, which could include nonprofit program work, social services, education, volunteer management, customer service or other related experience.
  • Experience working effectively with a diverse group people, including people experiencing poverty and crisis, culturally diverse communities and non-English speakers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required.
  • Must possess current driver’s license, maintain insurability under MPFS auto insurance, and be willing to drive to multiple sites, daily, sometimes using a personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Must be willing to learn and comfortable with driving a variety of vehicles including cargo vans and refrigerated box trucks.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen (excluding THC) and full background check, including driving record check.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe Certification.
  • Spanish language skills are preferred.
  • Experience in food service, food retail or warehouse work is a plus.
