Description of Work
The Program Coordinator plays a key role in advancing student career readiness, leadership development, and employer engagement within University Career Services at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This position coordinates the JoAnn Martin Leadership Academy, a high-impact leadership development program that strengthens students' leadership skills, business knowledge, and career readiness. Responsibilities include managing program logistics, securing guest speakers, shaping the student experience, and assessing outcomes. In addition, the coordinator develops and maintains employer partnerships to expand internship and employment opportunities and plans and supports employer-facing programs and events that connect students with industry professionals. The position also provides career and strengths coaching and facilitates workshops to support students in achieving their professional goals, helping them develop their strengths, internship and job search strategies, professional application materials, and the confidence to navigate career pathways.
The Program Coordinator collaborates across campus and with external partners to ensure relevant and impactful career readiness experiences. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional passionate about leadership and career development who enjoys building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and thrives in a dynamic environment that blends program management, employer engagement, and direct student support. Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience working with students in a college/university or closely related setting
  • Strong oral (presentation, facilitation, and one-on-one) and written communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with employers and campus partners
  • Ability to effectively coach and support students in career development
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with MS Office

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in education, counseling, student affairs, business, or related field of study preferred
  • Experience in career coaching, strengths coaching, academic advising, leadership education, teaching, human resources, or closely related field preferred.
  • Experience in a customer service role or environment desirable.
  • Program development/management or event planning experience preferred.
  • Experience using Canvas educational technology or other course management software is helpful.
