Status: Full Time
Position Summary:
The Anatomy Lab Manager and Anatomical Gifts Program Coordinator at Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM) is a staff position. It involves day-to-day management and upkeep of CUSOM's gross anatomy teaching laboratory, support for anatomy-related scholarly activity, maintenance of Anatomy Department core facilities, and management of the Anatomical Gifts Program. The position demands honesty, integrity, confidentiality with respect to cadavers, and the ability to work within the mission of Campbell University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Anatomical Gifts Program
1. Maintain accurate records of both procured and donated cadavers, past and present, in a secure manner.
2. Coordinate and manage the delivery, quality control, and maintenance of cadavers.
3. Order and maintain all chemicals and equipment involved with the maintenance of cadavers.
4. Transfer cadavers between gurneys and storage equipment.
5. Schedule the final dispensation of cadavers when courses are completed.
6. Coordinate and oversee the return of cremated remains to the proper destination.
7. Serve as the point-of-contact for any inquiries into the Anatomical Gifts Program.
8. Assist in the creation and maintenance of the website for the Anatomical Gifts Program.
9. Assist with the creation of information packets, including forms and paperwork for the Anatomical Gifts Program.
10. Coordinate visits between the Lab Director and leaders of local organizations (funeral homes, hospitals, hospice organization, etc.) to disseminate information about the Anatomical Gifts Program.
Lab Maintenance & Operations
1. Prepare the laboratory for daily activities for all participating programs and perform routine upkeep to keep the space functional and presentable.
2. Coordinate with IT, Facilities, and external contractors for lab maintenance and upkeep.
3. Coordinate and oversee the clean-up of the lab once courses are completed.
4. Order and maintain an inventory of tools, supplies, equipment, and cleaning agents used during anatomy laboratory activities.
5. Assign students to dissection tables and laboratory groups for all participating programs including coordinating histology and ultrasound laboratories.
6. Assist with the set-up of laboratory practical examinations.
7. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
8. Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to: Title IX, HIPAA, and FERPA guidelines.
9. Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Faculty & Student Scholarly Activity
1. Maintain, manage access to, and operate the core research facilities (e.g., slide scanner and material properties tester) of the Anatomy Department.
2. Assist with data collection and management of the Combined Anatomy Pathology project (CAP).
3. Manage access of student and outside researchers to the lab and cadaveric materials.
4. Assist faculty directly with scholarly activity as needed including, but not limited to: literature searching, purchase of research tools and materials, data collection, data analysis, and writing.
Education/Experience:
- A Bachelor of Arts/Science degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- A Master's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Experience in a medical school, higher education, mortuary science, or clinical setting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written expression.

- Computer proficiency utilizing current and new computerized teaching technology and familiarity with communicating education platform (such as Blackboard).
