Seeking a Part Time Program Assistant on our Hudson Corps Team

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The HSCPA will work directly with the Hudson Service Center Director to maintain and/or expand existing programs offered to the community. The HSCPA will aide the HSCP in the overall operation of the Hudson Service Center to ensure efficient and effective operation of all aspects of The Salvation Army social services ministry.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Assist in operation of the Soup Kitchen, Emergency Food Pantry, and any mass food distribution. Tasks include but are not limited to:
o Oversight in food preparation so that food is prepared and served properly.
o Cook as needed and assist with meal and menu planning.
o Assist with ordering of food from Food Bank and other vendors. Pickup, unload, stock, and inventory.
• Assist in the operation of seasonal programs including Long Point Camp recruitment, Back to School program, Holiday Food and Toy assistance.
• Assist in the Red Kettle Campaign: Recruit and schedule volunteer bell ringers, set up and collection of kettles, relieving volunteers and ring as needed.
• Manage the cleaning of kitchen, storage and serving areas.


SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Associates Degree preferred or one-two years of related experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
• Highly organized and ability to multi-task.
• Ability to prepare and cook meals.
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
• SafeServe food handling certificate preferred. Must obtain SafeServe food handling certification within 6 months of employment.
