Major Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management 


  • Assist in the preparation of estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of contracts, processing changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Manage contractor relations for major projects.
  • Oversees cost monitoring and control on projects.

Project Supervision


  • Organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.
  • Submit construction project costs, administrative and project reports.
  • Manage construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules.
  • Discuss, negotiate or confirm revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with Head Office, architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
  • Ensure that adequate and required building materials and equipment are available in order to meet project goals.
  • Participates in managing contractor relations for major projects.
  • Oversee cost monitoring and control on projects.
  • Inspect work performed by employees to ensure quality and conformity with plans and specifications.


Leadership and employee development


  • Ensure that employees meet FundyPros quality control needs and standards in the performance of their daily tasks.
  • Train employees on the various FundyPros standards of operations, work techniques, safety practices and other job-related functions
  • Hire and supervise the activities of employees and subcontractor staff
  • Provides effective orientation of new employees of FundyPros
  • Manage and motivate employees to ensure that they meet performance standards.
  • Answer employee questions and resolve workplace issues.

Health and Safety


  • Audit and inspect construction sites and other workplaces to ensure compliance with government regulations regarding workplace safety, pollution control, the handling and storage of hazardous substances.
  • Ensure supervisors are implementing safety regulations and policies.
  • Provide adequate training to supervisors and employees to implement safe work practices according to safety regulations and legislation.
  • Investigate health and safety related complaints, near misses, spills of hazardous chemicals, and workplace accident.
  • Completes accident reports and files appropriate health and safety forms to the safety department and government agencies.

Decision-making

The Senior Project Manager works with pre-determined procedures and guidelines that support his or her decision-making.  The Senior Project Manager makes decision and prepares reports based on recognized FundyPros estimating and product delivery practices


Safety Requirement


The Senior Project Manager often works with the clients and/or contractors on their project sites at which time he/she is required to follow safe work practices such as wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment required at these locations and following safety regulations.


Physical Demands and Working Conditions


The Senior Project Manager’s work is completed within the office environment and on project sites. The Senior Project Manager will be assigned to jobs anywhere in the Atlantic Provinces.


Staff Development and Leadership


The Senior Project Manager position receives general supervision and direction from the Director of Project Management. The Senior Project Manager implements and follows established estimation and product delivery practices, policies and procedures set by FundyPros. The Senior Project Managers is not required to supervise employees.

Education and Expertise Required  

        

The Senior Project Manager position requires that the incumbent have:


  • Accredited Community College Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering or Equivalent experience in construction.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in commercial construction, with at
    least 3-5 years in a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager role. Proven experience managing Complex/Complex+ projects is required, including responsibility for financial performance, schedule control, and contractual compliance. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects concurrently, mentor and develop Project Managers, and collaborate effectively with field Leadership, estimating, and finance
    teams. Experience in drywall, steel framing, or interior systems construction is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
  • Gold Seal Certification is considered an asset.
