Job Description
The NORC Program Assistant works with older adults living in a residential building. The Program Assistant is often the first point of contact for NORC members, and is responsible for welcoming clients and
promoting their access to program services, and for tasks associated with day to day office operations. Responsibilities also include preparation and implementation of client communications that
promote member participation, and implementation of NORC program group
activities to promote their success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Client contact including telephonic, verbal and written information to seniors about program offerings, and assisting with requests of a concrete nature, such as making a copy or fax, accepting documentation on behalf of the social worker, or providing an informational brochure. Interfaces with seniors to promote a welcoming environment and promote their participation. Refers and encourages them to speak with the social worker, nurse, or director, when they convey matters of personal or health concerns.
  2. Clerical tasks such as answering phones and retrieving messages, frequent email communications and computer work, filing, keeping records, taking inventory of office supplies and client snacks, maintaining organization and cleanliness of office, preparing and maintaining attendance sheets, gathering data, and collecting money, among other tasks.
  3. Ensures completion of necessary program forms by seniors, such as waivers. Creation of electronic documents,spreadsheets and flyers and posting of same. Responsible for office seasonal and holiday decorations and maintaining attractive bulletin boards with current information.
  4. Implementation of NORC activities, such as educational presentations, trips, special programs and event Attends trips as the Trip Leader for day outings. Preparations for activities include reserving community room, contact with presenters and seniors, room and refreshment set up, and assistance with decorations, themes, and giveaways.
  5. Assists in various projects and performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
    1. Education:
      High school diploma or GED required, Associate Degree preferred.

    Experience:

      experience or ability to perform tasks necessary to keep a professional office
      running, such as employment as an Administrative Assistant for at least 2 years
      or completion of higher education.
