Job SummaryThe City of Bellevue is currently seeking a Program Assistant for the Crossroads Community Center. This position provides daytime, evening, and weekend coverage. The City is seeking an individual that is reliable, trustworthy, and flexible working independently and in a multifunctional environment. This position is directly involved with providing excellent customer service to the public in a diverse community. Staff must actively engage and supervise program areas in the center as needed.
Hours: Vary depending on shift; up to 28 hours per week. Coverage consists of days, nights, and weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with daily programs as assigned including in the preschool, youth sports programs, adult sports programs and front desk assistance.
- Politely greet and service customers by providing program and facility information, registration support, account maintenance and other tasks as needed.
- Answer and route incoming phone calls/emails.
- Use CivicRec registration software system on daily basis.
- Accurately manage Cash, Check, and Credit Card transactions, reports, and deposits.
- Communicate clearly and provide accurate information to the public.
- Report and follow protocol for any damage, incidents and injuries using appropriate forms.
- Report any unsafe situations or conditions.
- Respond and assist with emergency situations.
- Supervise youth and teens in designated program area.
- Interactive and engaging with program participants.
- Check, communicate inventory and supplies for front desk, gym, and games room operations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, agencies, and the public.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- One or more years of experience in assigned activity or program or in the general parks, recreation and community services field.
- Has experience working in preschool, sports and community programs.
- Knowledge of general office procedures and ability to use a computer (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite and Internet Explorer) and office machines (e.g., copy machine, fax, card scanner, cash register).
- Ability to work independently and on a team in a friendly and professional manner.
- Strong organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Has experience and is comfortable working with a diverse population.
- Has some background experience working with youth and teens.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:- Ability to learn and use CivicRec registration software system.
- Public contact is significant and ongoing, working relationships are established with patrons.
- Must be able to collaborate and communicate with other staff members.
- Ability to work in a loud, multifunctional environment with interruptions.
- Ability to remain calm and composed during sensitive or challenging situations and adapt/respond to a variety of styles and personalities.
