Job Responsibilities
The State Treasurer's Office promotes a culture that is a fast-paced environment that supports high performance, exceptional customer service, quality work product, accountability and collaboration. This position serves as the 529 Programs Coordinator and assists with the administration and promotion of the Future Scholar 529 College Savings Plan and the Palmetto ABLE Savings Plan as well as other consumer programs within the division including the Unclaimed Property Program (UPP).
  • Provide broad-based program support of 529 Programs by participating in calls with external service providers, collaborating with internal business partners, monitoring deadlines and tracking outcomes including financial reports, marketing materials, digital content and other project-related deliverables.
  • Ensure all 529-related customer, executive and legislative requests are appropriately escalated, documented, and responded to in a timely manner and in accordance with agency guidelines. Assists other team members with researching complex and/or escalated issues.
  • Monitor Programs inbox to ensure timely response and ensure divisional outreach calendar is accurately maintained.
  • Compile materials for the Quarterly 529 Investment Meetings. Collaborate with external business partners to receive and prepare materials, take notes during the meeting and compile and distribute a list of actionable items following the meeting.
  • Assist Palmetto ABLE Manager with activities to raise awareness of the Palmetto ABLE Savings Program. This includes educating SC disability organizations and their customers about the program, drafting content for the website and social media posts, speaking at events and assisting with pre-event logistics, day-of activities and post-event follow up.
  • Assist with the implementation and execution of multiple promotions and activities within the Programs Division including the PalmettoBaby program, the SC Financial Literacy Master Teacher Program and other initiatives.
  • Organize and maintain inventory of promotional items and event supplies for all consumer programs.
  • Ensure all program materials are appropriately cataloged and filed according to departmental procedures. Compile monthly reports for the Programs Division.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree and at least two (2) years of related experience.
*Candidates must specifically meet the Agency Minimum Requirements or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be considered for this position.
Preferred Requirements
Experience working with consumer facing-programs, individuals with disabilities and/or college savings programs.

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are essential, as are the ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, with a variety of individuals including the general public, external business partners, government or disability organizations, executive leadership and public officials. Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional service in a government setting is critical. Successful candidate must thrive in a collaborative environment.
Must be comfortable conveying complex information to small and large groups virtually and in-person. Must be able to effectively manage multiple responsibilities, track complex details across various tasks, and consistently meet deadlines. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Able to manage shifting priorities, handle interruptions with professionalism, and remain composed under pressure. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Must be able to excel in an open work environment with moderate background noise. Willingness and ability to travel. May require occasional in-state travel and limited overnight travel. Must be able to safely lift and carry program materials weighing up to 35 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to reach, bend, and twist at the waist to perform filing, desk work and operate general office equipment.
