Job description

Strategic Account Manager
Mid-States Bolt amp; Screw, a trusted industrial distributor, is seeking a Strategic Account Manager to support one of our strategic, high-complexity customer accounts. This position is based at our corporate headquarters in Burton, Michigan and requires regular on-site presence, with an expectation of in-office collaboration at least three days per week.
Job Summary
We are seeking a tactical, analytical Strategic Account Manager to own the day-to-day data, reporting, and inventory analysis supporting one of our largest and most demanding accounts. This role is the operational and analytical backbone of the program — tracking demand signals, managing inventory obsolescence exposure, and pulling and interpreting data directly from Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) to keep both MSBS and the customer informed and ahead of risk.
Working closely with Purchasing, Operations, and Sales, this individual translates day-to-day data into clear, accurate updates for the customer's planning and purchasing teams. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, hands-on ERP proficiency, and the ability to communicate with process fluency and credibility to a demanding, data-driven customer — ideally with an understanding of how Tier 1 automotive supplier programs run, from launch through steady-state management.
Responsibilities
Data amp; Inventory Analysis
  • Independently pull, analyze, and interpret data within Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) to track demand, inventory levels, and order status.
  • Conduct ongoing (daily/weekly) inventory obsolescence exposure analysis and communicate findings clearly to the customer and internal teams.
  • Support material requirements planning and demand forecasting; flag risks and coordinate with Purchasing to resolve shortages or excess exposure.
  • Program Coordination amp; Customer Communication
  • Coordinate day-to-day program execution — order entry, quoting support, and inventory tracking — for the assigned account.
  • Serve as a working-level point of contact for the customer's planning and purchasing teams, communicating with process fluency and credibility.
  • Support onboarding, program launches, and engineering change coordination within an established Tier 1-style process framework.
Reporting amp; Continuous Improvement
  • Build and maintain reporting (Power BI and P21-based) to track fill rate, on-time delivery, and inventory accuracy.
  • Identify emerging risks early and escalate with clear, data-backed recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes and improve data accuracy across systems.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience as a Materials Coordinator, Master Planner, Business/Strategic Analyst, or similar tactical planning role.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and large data sets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel with experience using business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; well-spoken and confident presenting data-driven updates directly to customer contacts.
Preferred
  • Experience within a small-to-mid-size organization; candidates from large, siloed organizations should demonstrate cross-functional breadth.
  • Exposure to Tier 1 automotive supplier program management processes and timelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Epicor Prophet 21 (P21), including demand planning, purchasing, and reporting.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, APICS/ASCM certification, or prior automotive industry background.
Success in This Role Will Be Measured By
  • Accuracy and timeliness of inventory and obsolescence exposure reporting
  • Forecast accuracy and demand planning support
  • On-time delivery and fill rate performance
  • Customer satisfaction with communication and responsiveness
  • Timely identification and escalation of program risks
Our Benefits Include
  • 401(k) with Traditional and Roth options
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance
  • Short- and Long-Term Disability
  • Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays

About Mid-states Bolt & Screw

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

Mid-States Bolt & Screw Company is a place where every bolt and fastener imaginable is virtually at your fingertips. If you can’t find it here, you can’t find it anywhere!! That was the vison and goal of our founder, Herb Somers. Herb started Mid-States Bolt & Screw Co. in his basement in 1972. Within one year Herb’s home-based business grew so rapidly that he was able to move Mid-States Bolt & Screw out of his home and into a storefront on Dort Highway in Flint, Michigan. From that point forward, Mid-States Bolt & Screw Company has been securely fastened as an integral part of our community. We have grown from selling mail order wood screws into a multistate Corporation and established ourselves as the cultural foundation of the fastener business. Mid-States still has the close family feel even though we continue to grow and expand our borders. Hiring the right people plays a vital role in that constant success. When you have happy employees, you will have happy customers. Mid-States knows that you can teach anyone about fasteners and bolts, but having an employee who can connect with a customer is something that is an instinct. Here at Mid-States Bolt & Screw, we firmly believe in building a bridge between our employees and the customers. It is not something that can be fabricated, but grown with years of constant care.
