An art professor is an educator at the college or university level who teaches drawing, art history, painting, illustration, graphic design, sculpture, and more in either a classroom or studio setting. Some art professors teach at art schools that don’t provide the other classes typically offered in four-year schools but instead focus solely on visual arts subjects. As a professor of art, your duties include giving instruction on various mediums of art as well as information about their histories, encouraging creativity and interpretation, providing fair and helpful feedback to students regarding their work, creating tailored exams, and conducting research. In general, your responsibilities involving the education and advising of students are similar to those of other professors.
