Black Hills State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Graduate Studies faculty position. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in the College of Education beginning August 2026, with an option to start in January 2027.
We seek an exceptional educator and scholar dedicated to high quality teaching, student mentorship, and scholarly engagement. The successful candidate will support the growth and innovation of our graduate curriculum while contributing to the academic mission of the college and university.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teaching graduate-level courses in College of Education master's programs (e.g., Secondary Methods, Action Research, Curriculum Development).
• Advising and mentoring graduate students, including supervising research, projects, or theses.
• Engaging in scholarly activity aligning with and appropriate for the position (research, publications and professional presentations).
• Participating in curriculum development and program assessment.
• Providing service to the college, university, and professional community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field.
• ABD at time of application may be considered.
• Minimum of three (3) years successful P-12 teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with online or hybrid instruction
• Secondary education teaching experience.
• Experience teaching in higher education.
• Demonstrated success in student mentorship or supervision.
• A record of scholarly activity, publications, or funded research.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to scholarship or professional practice within the discipline.
