Position/Rank Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor (DOQ) Department 00228 - Dermatology City Track Tenure Track New Position to Begin 01/01/2018 Details

Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and the Department of Dermatology at the University of Utah are seeking a productive, collaborative, and innovative faculty member to join our multidisciplinary team devoted to melanoma. We seek an exceptional investigator whose research expertise complements our ongoing areas of excellence in melanoma genetics, pre-clinical models of melanoma in mouse (GEMMs and PDXs) and zebrafish, mechanisms and biomarkers of drug sensitivity/resistance, chemoprevention and clinical trials for melanoma as well as risk assessment and communication.

The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Dermatology in the tenure track and as an Investigator at HCI. Qualified individuals must have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD. For appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level, candidates must have an excellent record of basic, translational, or clinical research achievement in the area of melanoma, including peer-reviewed funding. For appointment at the Assistant Professor level, candidates must have an excellent record of achievement as a trainee and show strong potential for future success in the field. Although we are particularly interested in candidates with a focus on melanoma immunology or immune checkpoint-directed therapy, suitably qualified individuals in all areas of melanoma research are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally-funded melanoma research program, to participate in weekly treatment planning and research conferences, and engage in collaborative research efforts with members of the melanoma disease-oriented research team (MDOT).

HCI is an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center and a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network with two dedicated cancer research buildings and a 100-bed cancer specialty hospital. The MDOT is one of nine research teams supported by HCI that is actively involved in collaborative translational cancer research and clinical trial development. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience.
