Job description

Associate Professor/Professor in Computational Oncology

The Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute at the University of Utah is growing and pursuing multiple new faculty hires over the next three years. These hires will expand core research expertise and enhance the instituteโ€™s reputation in scientific, information, and biomedical visualization; image and data analysis; and interdisciplinary scientific computing. The primary goal is to attract new partnerships across the University and beyond. Candidates with research that integrates social and technical aspects are of particular interest.

Position Overview

This seniorโ€‘level, tenureโ€‘track faculty position is part of a new faculty cluster in Computational Oncology (CCO). Advanced computing, data science, imaging, and visualization are central to solving fundamental problems in cancer research and care. The CCO is an innovative collaboration between Huntsman Cancer Institute, the University of Utahโ€™s Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the SCI Institute. The successful candidate will serve as a Computational Oncology leader within the SCI Institute.

Responsibilities

The faculty member will help coordinate joint initiatives, proposals, and faculty recruitment between the SCI Institute and Huntsman Cancer Institute, including the Computational Oncology Research Initiative (CORI) and other Cancer Informatics initiatives. The candidate will become a Cancer Center member and may be considered for an adjunct position in the Department of Oncological Sciences.

Qualifications
  • Established researcher at the Associate or Full Professor level in an area aligned with SCIโ€™s core research thrusts of scientific, information, and biomedical visualization, image and data analysis, and interdisciplinary scientific computing, with demonstrated leadership in applications to oncology.
  • Candidates whose research integrates social and technical aspects are of particular interest.
