Job description

Role Model
Location: In-person (Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex)
Employment: Part-Time
The Role Model position provides a unique opportunity to teach students how to play chess in a challenging and fun after school environment. This after school program was founded by Andrew Svehaug a two time Scholastic National Champion that uses the game of Chess to help raise Critical thinking, Creativity, memory, focus, problem solving, Communication, and Collaboration skills in students. Each Role Model will have classrooms of students who eagerly look forward to seeing them each week. He or she will have an incredible opportunity to instill good character and principles in children in public schools.
This position will involve teaching after school classes across one or more campuses. No prior chess experience is required but is a bonus. No extensive prior knowledge of Chess is required - we will teach you.
The classes will be in the afternoon between the hours of 3:00pm-6:00pm, although the class will not fill this entire time. We anticipate that this role will involve teaching after school classes in-person 2-4 days per week for around 20 weeks between September and March. This job will end by the end of March 2027.
Responsibilities
  • Be an ambassador for Code To The Future who models the values of the company and is committed to the mission and vision.
  • Lead after school chess class instruction with the provided curriculum.
  • Serve students and schools in your region to achieve high-quality learning.
  • Provide up-to-date information to management.
  • Perform administrative and other tasks related to your assigned classes.
  • Be a role model to students and school-site staff, and arrive every day with a professional, upbeat, and positive attitude.
  • Ensuring Code To The Future's educational standards are clearly communicated and implemented

Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, written) that reflect sensitivity to your audience.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Physical requirements: An employee in this position will be required to regularly lift items up to 40 lbs in weight, move and/or set-up stacks of documents such as instructional materials, computers (desktop/laptops/tablets), projectors, flip charts and other materials.
