EFK Moen, LLC, is a civil engineering design consulting firm headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri with additional office locations in St. Charles, Missouri, Chicago and Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Atlanta, Georgia. We are currently seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensed in Missouri and/or Illinois, for a full-time position in our St. Louis, Missouri office. Our company offers a locally competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package.

Job Description:

The Professional Land Surveyor will interface with field staff, managers, engineers, and external clients to support surveying efforts of all types, and the daily operation within the Survey Department. This is primarily an in-office position with the possibility of occasional field work as needed. Project emphasis is transportation engineering design for both public and private sectors which range in scope from small to multimillion-dollar designs. Services are provided to a wide range of clients that include state DOTs and other governmental agencies - municipal, county and state.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive:

  • Responsible for managing projects to make certain they are completed on time & within budget
  • Provide coordination and expertise related to the work of field survey crews and office staff
  • Review and certify completed survey work
  • Prepare accurate computer drafted surveys, plats, topographic surveys, engineering surveys
  • Research and prepare land descriptions and maps in accordance with applicable standards

Minimum Knowledge/Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Surveying Engineering, Land Surveying, or Construction Management with Land Survey Specialization or comparable; and/or Certified as a Professional Land Surveyor in Missouri and/or Illinois
  • 5+ years of experience in land surveying
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Capability to perform mathematical computations/calculations
  • Ability to review plats, maps, reports, descriptions, surveys, digital map models, etc.
  • Competence to understand and interpret plans, and resolve boundary surveys
  • High level of personal integrity, ethics, and professionalism
  • Proficiency with general office software
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • Capacity to develop and maintain effective working relationships with leadership and coworkers
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Experience:

  • Project management experience

Physical Qualifications:

  • Primarily office work with the possibility of some occasional field work
  • Ability to type and/or use a computer for extended periods of time
  • Sufficient visual ability to focus attention on extended use of electronic documents and software
  • Ability to walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time
  • Requires strong physical ability to walk long distances through a variety of terrains, lift and transport up to 50 pounds, and stand for extended periods
  • Demonstrate flexibility and/or agility, as well as hand dexterity to operate equipment/tools
  • Willingness to endure a variety of weather conditions, as well as possible exposures to poisonous plants, insects, snakes, and animals
  • Ability to commute and/or travel long distances and/or stay overnight at project locations for extended time
