Job description

Senior Designer -Prefabricated Construction | Omaha

AOI is looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Designer- Prefabricated Construction to help transform the way commercial spaces are designed and built. If you're passionate about solving complex design challenges, thrive in a collaborative environment, and enjoy bringing modular construction solutions to life, we'd love to meet you.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical expertise with creativity, understands the construction process, and enjoys working alongside architects, project managers, sales professionals, and clients to deliver exceptional spaces. You'll play a critical role in designing high-performance environments using DIRTT's prefabricated construction systems while helping drive innovation, efficiency, and quality throughout every project.

What You'll Do

  • Design innovative, prefabricated interior environments using DIRTT's ICE® software by translating architectural drawings and client requirements into detailed manufacturing models, shop drawings, renderings, and construction documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, architects, contractors, and clients throughout the project lifecycle to coordinate designs, resolve challenges, respond to project changes, and ensure successful project execution.
  • Apply commercial construction knowledge, building codes, ADA requirements, and DIRTT design standards to create accurate, code-compliant, cost-effective, and constructible design solutions.
  • Perform thorough quality reviews of drawings, models, and technical documentation while supporting permitting, submittals, and manufacturing deliverables that keep projects on schedule.
  • Continuously improve design processes by maintaining DIRTT libraries and templates, recommending workflow efficiencies, and sharing technical expertise through mentoring and supporting junior designers.
  • Stay current on DIRTT products, modular construction innovations, and industry best practices to recommend creative, sustainable, and high-performing solutions that meet client goals and budgets.

What We're Looking For

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Construction Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of commercial interior design, architecture, or prefabricated construction experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting architectural plans and construction documents.
  • Strong proficiency with Revit, BIM workflows, and construction documentation; experience with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction methods, building materials, and industry best practices.
  • Understanding of building codes and ADA requirements.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

What Will Make You Successful Here

Innovative Thinker: You enjoy solving design challenges and finding creative ways to integrate modular construction solutions into complex commercial environments.

Technical Excellence: You understand how great designs become great buildings. Your drawings are accurate, coordinated, and ready for manufacturing and installation.

Collaborative Partner: You build strong relationships with project teams, clients, architects, and contractors, communicating clearly and working toward shared project goals.

Quality Driven: You take pride in producing precise work, catching details before they become issues, and delivering projects that exceed expectations.

Continuous Learner: You're excited by new technology, sustainable building practices, and continually expanding your knowledge of prefabricated construction systems.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays
