Job description

We're Hiring: Director, Creative Production
Location: Torrance, CA
Company: Pelican
Who We Are
At Pelican, we engineer products that stand up to the world's toughest conditions-because the people who rely on us do too. For nearly 50 years, we've been a trusted partner for military personnel, first responders, outdoor adventurers, and innovators who push the limits.
With a global presence that includes 11 offices, 4 manufacturing facilities, and 4 custom case centers, we create high-performance protective solutions that ensure our customers can focus on what matters most. Whether it's transporting critical medical supplies, securing mission-essential equipment, or keeping expedition gear safe, Pelican products are Built to Protect to Equip for the Mission.
At Pelican, your work has a real-world impact. You'll be part of a team driven by innovation, craftsmanship, and the shared belief that when the mission is critical, failure isn't an option. If you're ready to build something that makes a difference, be part of a team that protects what matters most.
What You'll Do:
Lead the vision. Tell unforgettable stories. Bring the Pelican brand to life.
Pelican is looking for a Director of Creative Production to lead the development of bold, story-driven video and motion content across our brand and performance marketing channels. This role owns the creative production journey from the first big idea through the final cut-shaping concepts, directing shoots, leading creative talent, and delivering content that connects with audiences and drives the business forward.
You'll lead a multidisciplinary creative production team while partnering closely with Brand, Marketing, Social Media, and channel leaders to create compelling content for digital, social, advertising, TV/CTV, email, out-of-home, and more. If you're equal parts creative storyteller, production leader, and team builder, this is an opportunity to put your fingerprints on how an iconic brand shows up in the world.
  • Lead Pelican's video, motion, and creative production strategy, turning brand and campaign objectives into compelling visual stories
  • Develop original concepts, narratives, scripts, and creative approaches for product launches, campaigns, social content, and brand storytelling
  • Own the full production lifecycle-from creative development and pre-production through on-set direction, post-production, and final delivery
  • Direct video shoots and provide clear creative vision to talent, crews, agencies, vendors, and internal partners
  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team spanning video, motion, graphic design, and art direction
  • Oversee production schedules, budgets, talent, crews, vendors, locations, and logistics while keeping projects moving on time and on budget
  • Partner with Marketing, Brand, Social Media, and channel teams to develop integrated creative that supports both brand-building and performance goals
  • Oversee editing, motion graphics, color, sound, finishing, and delivery to ensure every asset meets Pelican's creative and brand standards
  • Create content across social, web, digital advertising, TV/CTV, email, out-of-home, and other emerging channels
  • Stay ahead of creative, production, cultural, and platform trends to continually evolve how Pelican tells its stories
  • Build scalable production workflows and best practices that enable a growing, fast-moving content calendar
  • Develop strong partnerships with production companies, freelance talent, agencies, and post-production resources
  • Present creative concepts, production strategies, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership
  • Oversee Pelican's video and motion asset library, including organization, version control, usage, and distribution
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Why You'll Love This Role
  • Shape the visual storytelling of an iconic global brand
  • Lead creative from concept all the way through production and launch
  • Build and develop a multidisciplinary in-house creative team
  • Create work across everything from brand storytelling and product launches to social and performance marketing
  • Collaborate across Pelican to turn big ideas into content seen by audiences around the world
  • Have the freedom to push creative boundaries while building the systems needed to scale great work

What We're Looking For:
  • 7+ years of experience in video production, creative production, creative direction, or a related field, including at least three years in a senior or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success leading brand-driven creative content across all formats and channels content from concept development through final delivery.
  • Experience creating content for both consumer and professional audiences, including industrial, government, military and defense, or B2B markets.
  • Strong experience producing social-first short-form content, as well as longer-form brand campaigns and films.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the full production lifecycle, including pre-production planning, on-set direction, post-production, and asset delivery.
  • Proven ability to manage production budgets, maximize resources, and deliver high-quality creative work within established timelines and financial parameters.
  • Strong creative judgment and storytelling ability, with a refined visual aesthetic and the ability to ensure all creative content across all formats and channels content is polished, consistent, and aligned with visual and tonal brand standards.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple productions and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly articulate creative concepts and recommendations to cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
