Job description

Sewing Apprentice
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (Overtime may required during busy season, including some Saturdays)
PAY FREQUENCY: Weekly Pay
SALARY: $17.25 per hour, with increases based on skill and efficiency attainment
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Children's Factory is looking for a Sewing Apprentice to join our production team and build on existing sewing skills in a hands-on manufacturing environment. This is a great opportunity for someone with personal or professional sewing experience - such as home sewing, costume making, alterations, quilting, or similar work - who wants to grow their skills using industrial sewing equipment.
In this role, you'll learn how to efficiently produce high-quality products while working alongside experienced team members in a fast-paced production setting. While industrial sewing machine experience is not required, candidates should already have a basic understanding of sewing techniques and fabric handling. This position is designed as a training path into a Machine Operator: Sewing role, with the opportunity to advance after demonstrating consistent performance and sewing efficiency.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS:
The work completed by our Sewing team directly supports the quality and reliability of the products our customers depend on. Every stitch, measurement, and quality check helps ensure products are made safely, consistently, and efficiently.
This role is important because it helps maintain production quality while developing skilled sewing operators within the team. Candidates who are motivated to learn and improve can build valuable manufacturing and sewing experience while contributing to daily production goals.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Learn to operate industrial sewing machines and related production equipment
  • Sew fabric pieces together following patterns, sew notes, and production instructions
  • Build sewing speed, consistency, and accuracy over time
  • Perform quality checks to ensure products meet company standards
  • Change needles and thread as needed during production
  • Help maintain sewing machines through basic cleaning and routine upkeep
  • Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe
  • Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet daily production goals
  • Follow company safety procedures and attendance expectations
  • Continue developing sewing efficiency with the goal of advancing into a Machine Operator: Sewing position

ABOUT YOU:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Some prior sewing experience is required, such as home sewing, costume making, alterations, quilting, embroidery, or similar hands-on sewing work
  • Industrial sewing machine experience is helpful but not required
  • Previous manufacturing or production experience is a plus
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Able to work well as part of a team
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Willing to learn new skills and adapt to changing production needs
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs. throughout the workday

WHY JOIN US:
  • Be Part of a Dynamic, Supportive Team: We value collaboration and celebrate success together.
  • Grow Your Career: We support professional development and offer opportunities to expand your skills.
  • Make an Impact: Your work will contribute to making a difference in the lives of children, educators, and parents around the world by supporting the financial health of a company that creates innovative and educational products that inspire learning and creativity.
  • Enjoy Competitive Benefits, Including:
    • 12 Paid Holidays: Including Christmas Eve and the Day After Thanksgiving so you can enjoy more time with family.
    • Generous PTO Accrual: Because work-life balance matters.
    • Paid Parental Leave: Support for growing families.
    • Volunteer Time Off: Give back to the community while getting paid.
    • Generous 401(k) Company Match: Helping you plan for your future.
    • Educational Assistance: Invest in your career growth with tuition reimbursement.
    • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage starting the first of the month following your date of hire.
