Job description

Summary/Objective:
The Assembly Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily assembly and production operations within a fast-paced 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) environment. This role ensures production schedules are met while maintaining safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service standards. The Assembly Production Manager leads production teams, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates closely with warehouse, transportation, quality, and customer teams to support operational success.
Essential Functions:

  • Manage and oversee all assembly, kitting, packaging, and light manufacturing operations within the facility.
  • Ensure production goals, KPIs, and customer requirements are achieved on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, leads, and hourly associates to drive productivity and employee engagement.
  • Monitor labor utilization and staffing levels to ensure operational efficiency and cost control.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer deadlines and service expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and company procedures.
  • Maintain high quality standards and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Analyze production metrics and prepare operational reports for leadership review.
  • Partner with HR on hiring, performance management, employee relations, and training initiatives.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure material availability and inventory accuracy.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Support customer audits, operational reviews, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of equipment and workstations.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of production, assembly, manufacturing, or 3PL operations management experience.
  • Experience managing high-volume assembly, kitting, or packaging operations preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills with experience managing large hourly workforces.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and productivity metrics.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
