Job Purpose

The Inventory Control Supervisor is a key leader responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of all inventory control processes. This role oversees cycle counting, PFEP management, BaaN/DTR support, inventory reconciliation, physical inventory events, and scrap reporting. The supervisor leads the inventory control team, ensures compliance with company standards, and partners closely with Supply Chain, Production, Purchasing, and Finance to support material flow, inventory accuracy, and operational performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This role is onsite full time at our Springfield, MO facility.

Leadership & Job Positioning

  • Reports to the Supply Chain Manager with minimal direct supervision.
  • Serves as the plant’s subject‑matter expert for inventory accuracy, material control, and ERP processes.
  • Leads, trains, coaches, and develops the inventory control team to ensure consistent, high‑quality performance.

Inventory Management & Control

  • Direct all inventory control activities, including cycle counting, reconciliation, and inventory accuracy checks.
  • Maintain and execute the PFEP to ensure accurate material flow and master data integrity.
  • Manage annual physical inventory planning, execution, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with Purchasing to reduce overstocks and remove obsolete/redundant materials.
  • Oversee scrap processes, reporting, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Verify production order variances and collaborate with Production and Finance to resolve discrepancies.

Analysis, Reporting & Corrective Actions

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies using root‑cause analysis and implement corrective/preventative actions.
  • Generate, analyze, and present inventory performance reports, trends, and improvement recommendations to leadership.
  • Approve and process inventory adjustments in ERP systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with audit standards.
  • Ensure all inventory control activities align with internal control requirements and audit readiness.

Systems, Data & BaaN/DTR Support

  • Provide BaaN/DTR WM master data support and troubleshoot SAP issues impacting inventory or material movement.
  • Ensure ERP data accuracy, including location control, unit of measure integrity, and material master consistency.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly oversee inventory control staff and coordinate daily workflow, priorities, and workload distribution.
  • Establish performance expectations and conduct regular coaching, training, and development discussions.

Promote a team environment focused on communication, accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of inventory management principles, accuracy controls, and material flow.
  • Knowledge of Hazmat materials (preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to investigate root causes, solve problems, manage projects, and implement corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (MAS, SAP, Oracle, Baan or similar) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of inventory control experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.

Language, Mathematical & Computer Skills

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • High‑school‑level math or higher.
  • Strong computer literacy in ERP systems and Microsoft Suite applications.

Travel required as necessary.
