Job description

JOB TITLE: FILLER OPERATOR III

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

Ensure quality of products by completing the approved training matrix and on-the-job training conducted by the Filler Operator I. Operates hot pouch forming and filling machines. Monitors and tracks fill weights, temperatures, pouch codes.

Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.

1 70% Follows approved procedures while operating machines that form and fill hot pouches. Ensures pouch quality based on specifications. Sets up and adjusts equipment including but not limited to check weigher equipment, metal detectors, temperature control devices, while in operation and inputting data into computer. Responsible for learning of all other filler operators and break relief's in the filling process, to include material handling, material tracking, filling, and documentation procedures. Complete start up sheets for all products and insures accuracy. Monitor and perform CIP/COP/GMP's of filling room and all associated areas. Must be willing to move between shifts to evaluate effectiveness of training and that procedures are followed. Perform dye test on pouches once an hour to check seal integrity.

2. 15% Changes 150 lb. film rolls while eliminating waste of film using a forklift and lift car (safely). Follows machine operation manuals to perform preventative maintenance on product handling machinery. Reads and follows approved procedures to enhance the filling operation.

3. 5% Follows approved procedures completing CIP/COP (cleaning in place/cleaning out of place) of filling machines, room sanitation. Responsible for ensuring GMP (good manufacturing policies) compliance of filler room employees, and all associated areas of the filling room.

4. 5% Completes production, quality and sanitation paperwork.

5. 5% performs other duties as needed or assigned by superior.

Internal Contacts:

Production Manager and Supervisors, maintenance personnel, PDS crew, tomato batch operator, tomato bin dump operator, QC/QA

External Contacts:

Customers, R&D, auditors, ingredient and chemical suppliers.

Education Level and Focus:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred Willingness to continue education through approved courses or classes that will enhance personal and professional growth.

Years and Type of Related Experience Required:

Food processing experience in a technically advanced facility preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Interpersonal and Communication:

Operator must beable to function with minimal supervision, follow processing CIP/COP/GMP and sanitation procedures, safety rules, capacity to learn, and other directives. Operator must be able to speak and write English. Develop and implement with supervision, measurable cost saving measures and procedures.

Technical and Analytical:

Operator must havebasic math skills, process equipment problem solving aptitude, mechanical aptitude, ability to operate a forklift, computer literate using word, excel, procedure templates and possess good writing skills. Aptitude for detailed documentation of operation including down time, film usage, fill volume, fill temperature and seal integrity

Administrative and Operations:

Operator has aptitude for detailed documentation of the batching, CIP/COP/GMP and room sanitation processes and procedures; able to implement and apply time management skills and procedures to define the batching process to be efficient and cost effective.

Physical Demands:

Agile, standing for long periods of time, reaching, bending, lift 50+ lbs, climbing stairs, ability to work various shifts.

Work Environment:

Food plant, cold, hot and humid conditions, wet floors, high noise levels, forklift traffic. This is a Safety Sensitive Position.

Special Equipment Used:

Pouch filling machines, lift cart, high pressure wash station, portable foaming unit, computer, metal detectors, and check weight machines. General maintenance tools for COP/CIP equipment and required hand tools.
