Job description

BUILD WHAT THE BEST IN THE WORLD USE
At Shield, we don't build ordinary products - we build the locker rooms championship programs train in, the spaces elite athletes rally in, and the healthcare environments trusted by the nation's leading hospitals. Every challenge is unique. Every solution is engineered by people who refuse to settle for average.
This is your chance to join that team.
SUMMARY
This is hands-on engineering, fast-paced projects, and real ownership from day one. As a Production Engineer, you'll sit at the heart of the action - where design and vision become a real engineered product. You'll translate concepts into manufacturable drawings, solve problems on the fly, and collaborate with teams across the company to bring elite-level products to life.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:
You're not just making drawings - you're shaping the products that elite athletes and medical teams interact with every single day.
You will:
  • Create high-quality production drawings in SolidWorks that drive fabrication
  • Work directly with Design, Estimating, Operations, and Production teams
  • Engineer real-world solutions for custom projects across sports and healthcare
  • Interpret design intent and turn it into manufacturable, accurate products
  • Make sure assemblies and components meet Shield's high standards
  • Support BOM creation with precise, clean, organized data
  • Jump in with Production to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and keep jobs moving
  • Help ensure projects hit deadlines without sacrificing quality

This is a role where you see the direct impact of your work on the floor, on the truck, on the jobsite, and on game day.
WHO YOU ARE:
You're someone who:
  • Loves solving problems and making things better
  • Has an eye for detail and a mind for how things go together
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with lots of moving parts
  • Communicates clearly and works well with others
  • Is coachable, curious, and hungry to grow
  • Isn't afraid to get hands-on when needed

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or Manufacturing Engineering required
  • SolidWorks proficiency (student or professional experience)
  • Passion for building, making, engineering, or fabrication
  • Occasionally being on the Production floor, which could involve climbing, crouching, or lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Ability to talk and hear
  • Some travel may be required

Nice to Have (but not required):
  • Experience in manufacturing, furniture, cabinets, or casework
  • Exposure to CNC machining, CAM, shop workflows
  • Adobe Creative Suite familiarity

We hire for ability and attitude, not just résumé bullet points.
Why SHIELD?
Because here, your engineering work is visible. Tangible. Important.
You're not making a tiny part in a giant corporation you'll never see again.
You're helping build:
  • Lockers seen on ESPN
  • Spaces used by top athletes
  • Products trusted in life-saving medical environments

You'll join a team that values:
  • High craftsmanship
  • Innovation
  • Curiosity
  • Personal ownership
  • And doing things the right way, not the easy way

While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to hot and/or cold conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
