Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a Production Control Manager at our Tomatek facility in Firebaugh, CA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

Summary: The Production Control Manager is an integral part of the plant operations team, providing cost analysis results to assist management in decision making or other financial initiatives, production reporting, and monitoring of internal controls for a food processing plant with multiple product lines and corresponding raw materials. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates production information (“PIDs”) by reviewing, correcting and ensuring consumption entries are timely and accurately completed and closed, which drives the value of completed production.
  • Reviews, troubleshoots, and approves PID/Recap reporting.
  • Manages processing data and performance metrics; performs timely analysis and reporting of operational metrics related to production efficiency (including yield, labor, consumption, throughputs, etc.) and spend.
  • Provides costing for projects plant-wide (Ex.: cannery, new SKU demands, labor).
  • Generates reports by analyzing costs and resources, and helps determine actionable projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business management or related field; or, an equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties of the job.
  • 5 years’ experience in manufacturing and distribution operations environment plus 1 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of advanced Excel functions; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint) including knowledge of Oracle, and PeopleSoft.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and to work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
