Product Development/Lab Technician - Apex, NC

We have an opportunity for a Product Development/Lab Technician in Apex, NC, within our Pool segment. You will independently develop, and document test procedures based on leadership input. Represent lab in technical discussions and provide strategic direction and implementation of lab testing for an extensive range of new product types and major product improvements.You will be a part of the new product development team and work closely with cross-functional partners including product management, operations, marketing, sales and our field testing and service teams.

You will:

  • Source equipment and materials to create and build a physical environment to test new products for our Pool division
  • Represent the lab in technical discussions and lead testing on new engineering projects
  • Drive efficiency improvements and cost-effectiveness.
  • Research, source, and training on new lab testing equipment and stay abreast of technological advancements and regulatory changes
  • Lead and mentor a team of technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement advanced testing methodologies.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and regulatory changes.
  • Articulating data from testing and building out reports

Key Qualifications:

  • Must have Python Programming experience or PLC programming experience
  • CAD or SolidWorks experience highly desired
  • Must have 8+ years of experience building automated test stands from scratch
  • Must be able to build testers from scratch (designing, assembling, and making it run)
  • Expertise in electronic testing and troubleshooting and must be able to build out data from PLC's and sensors
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: 2-year degree from a college or tech school in engineering technology or programming
  • Proven ability to drive innovation and efficiency and experience in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Effective problem-solving abilities in a dynamic product development environment
  • Proven project management skills for orchestrating complex testing projects
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making skills
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Physical requirement: This role frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, speaking, and hearing, with occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 40 pounds.

Shift/Hours:

  • 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday

Compensation:

  • The hourly pay for this role is $33.00+/hour, DOE. Opportunity for a rate increase after you are proficient in certain skills and have fulfilled training. Actual pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, and experience.
