What is a product strategy?

A Product Strategy job involves defining the vision, goals, and roadmap for a product to ensure market success and alignment with business objectives. Professionals in this role analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities. They collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, marketing, and engineering, to develop and implement strategic initiatives. Their key responsibilities often include market research, financial modeling, go-to-market planning, and measuring product performance.

What are the primary responsibilities of someone in a product strategy role?

Professionals in Product Strategy are responsible for analyzing market trends, identifying new growth opportunities, and developing long-term roadmap plans for product offerings. This often involves close collaboration with product managers, engineers, marketing teams, and executives to ensure alignment across departments. A typical week may include conducting competitive analysis, gathering customer feedback, and presenting strategic recommendations to stakeholders. These responsibilities require a mix of analytical thinking and strong project management, as well as the ability to adapt quickly to changing business priorities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the product strategy position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Product Strategy, you need strong skills in market analysis, business acumen, and cross-functional collaboration, typically supported by a background in business, marketing, or a related field. Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and leadership are vital soft skills for driving consensus and leading strategic initiatives. These competencies ensure you can effectively develop, validate, and execute product strategies that align with business goals and respond to market needs.

Job description

The Opportunity

AI is rapidly transforming the world. Whether it's developing the next generation of human-level intelligence, enhancing voice assistants, or enabling researchers to analyze genetic markers at scale, AI is increasingly integrated into various aspects of our daily lives.

Arize AI is the leading AI observability and evaluation platform, empowering AI engineers to build and deploy high-performing, reliable models. As the AI landscape shifts from traditional ML to generative AI and agentic systems, Arize ensures teams have the tools to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve AI in production.

The Team

Our team is working to define the "canonical stack" for AI workflows, by solving the toughest problems in AI today: how to experiment, evaluate, understand and improve models or applications at scale in a responsible way. The product team has deep technical and strategic backgrounds from leading AI/ML companies (Uber, Cruise, Spotify, Apple) and experience shipping market leading platforms at scale. Working with this team is an opportunity to develop further as a PM leader in a rapidly growing space by collaborating with some of the best in class AI Engineers and Data Scientists in the industry.

What You'll Do

  • You will be owning, strategizing, and developing a large portion of Arize AI's core product roadmap.
  • From ideation to creation, you will be involved in all stages of the product life cycle.
  • You will be engaging with our customers directly to gather meaningful insight and feedback in order to create a world class product.
  • You will be working cross functionally with internal and external stakeholders; including engineering, design, marketing, and sales to drive our product strategy into production.
  • You will be responsible for communicating and integrating competitive analysis, usability research, and market analysis into product requirements.
  • Utilize your understanding in AI/ML/CV or related technical space in order to contribute to Arize AI's main product offering.

What We're Looking For

  • 2-3+ years of relevant product management experience or previous AI/ML experience with strong product ownership.
  • Previous engineering and/or tech lead experience
  • Strong track record of building in a technical domain while shipping quickly and efficiently.
  • Willingness to get your hands dirty with code!
  • Experience and/or knowledge of working within machine learning, or data platforms and infrastructure.
  • Experience working directly with customers and promoting community discussions in order to gather client feedback.
  • Experience driving data-informed product strategy into production.

Bonus Points, But Not Required

  • Experience in API design
  • Early startup experience
  • Experience working with Figma or similar design tools

The estimated annual salary for this role is between $150,000 - $220,000, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is determined based upon a variety of job related factors that may include: transferable work experience, skill sets, and qualifications. Total compensation also includes a comprehensive benefit package, including: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, unlimited paid time off, generous parental leave plan, and others for mental and wellness support.

While we are a remote-first company, we have opened offices in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, as an option for those in those cities who wish to work in-person. For all other employees, there is a WFH monthly stipend to pay for co-working spaces.
