As a Global Product Strategy Senior Manager (m/f/*) for Technical Ceramics, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Defining strategic direction and growth priorities for the Technical Ceramics portfolio, aligning market opportunities, customer needs, competitive dynamics, technology trends, and businessobjectives

  • P&L accountability within a cross-functional matrix organization

  • Developing and maintaining a multi-year product strategy and roadmap that balances core portfolio optimization, adjacent growth opportunities, and longer-term innovation investments

  • Identifying and prioritizing attractive end markets, applications, and customer segments where Technical Ceramics can deliver differentiated value and sustainable growth

  • Shaping the portfolio value proposition and positioning, ensuring clear differentiation based on performance, quality, reliability, and application-specific customer requirements

  • Translating customer, market, and technology insights into clear strategic choices, investment priorities, and actionable portfolio plans

  • Guiding cross-functional collaboration with R&D, product management, marketing, operations, sales, and business leadership to translate strategy into execution

  • Partnering with technical and commercial teams to align innovation pipelines with market needs, commercialization plans, and business growth priorities

  • Monitoring portfolio performance and market signals, recommending adjustments to strategic priorities to improve growth, profitability, and innovation effectiveness

  • Building strategic recommendations and business cases that align stakeholders on portfolio direction, trade-offs, and resource priorities

  • Influencing cross-functional teams and helping build product strategy capabilities that enable strong execution and long-term portfolio success


Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet following minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business, marketing, engineering, or science (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) or more years experience in product management, product strategy, marketing, business strategy or R&D in an industrial, advanced materials, manufacturing, or technology-driven environment

  • Five (5) or more years experience developing product or portfolio strategies using customer, market, and technology insights

Additional knowledge qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • MBA, PhD or relevant graduate degree preferred

  • Strong financial and business acumen, including P&L management, experience evaluating growth, margin, and portfolio performance metrics

  • Experience in technical ceramics, advanced materials, specialty materials, engineered components, or adjacent industrial markets

  • Experience in market assessment, segmentation, application prioritization, and portfolio planning

  • Experience building multi-year roadmaps that connect technology development, product commercialization, and growth strategy

  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional and business leaders without direct authority

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical and market insights into clear strategic recommendations

  • People leadership or project leadership experience

  • Experience working cross-functionally with technical and commercial teams

Work location:

  • This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.

  • Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international travel

  • Relocation: May be authorized
