Job description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for professionals experienced in consumer research, product comparison, service provider analysis, quote review, procurement support, and structured research workflows.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on structured consumer research, product and service comparison, purchase analysis, documentation review, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will apply their research expertise to review realistic consumer scenarios, compare products or providers against defined requirements, prepare structured written outputs, and support accurate, evidence-based research tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Product Research & Shortlist Development

  • Review consumer research scenarios involving product specifications, budget constraints, feature requirements, purchase criteria, and comparison workflows
  • Build or evaluate product shortlists based on defined requirements, stated preferences, and documented constraints
  • Assess whether product recommendations align with source materials, technical specifications, pricing limits, and user needs
  • Prepare structured comparison outputs using clear criteria and source-based review

Service Provider & Offer Comparison

  • Review service provider comparison scenarios involving insurance, internet, utilities, subscriptions, home services, or related consumer categories
  • Compare plans, quotes, policies, pricing structures, terms, and service features against defined criteria
  • Evaluate documented recommendations, provider rankings, and final selections using structured review rubrics
  • Identify missing information, cost differences, eligibility requirements, and relevant tradeoffs

Purchase Analysis & Research Documentation

  • Review major purchase analysis workflows involving quote gathering, total cost of ownership, negotiation angles, and documented decision criteria
  • Support structured TCO calculations, comparison tables, negotiation briefs, and research summaries
  • Prepare clear written explanations for consumer research decisions based on provided materials and verifiable information
  • Maintain accuracy, consistency, and professional judgment across submitted work

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • 3+ years of experience in consumer research, product research, procurement support, journalism, review writing, market research, purchasing analysis, personal finance research, or adjacent roles
  • Experience with one or more areas such as product specification analysis, service provider comparison, quote gathering, negotiation research, total cost of ownership modeling, or purchase decision support
  • Familiarity with research workflows involving comparison tables, product shortlists, pricing research, quote analysis, service plan review, or structured recommendation outputs
  • Comfort reading and preparing research artifacts such as comparison tables, shortlists, negotiation briefs, TCO spreadsheets, purchase summaries, and provider comparison notes
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to explain research reasoning clearly
  • Ability to follow structured instructions and produce evidence-based work

Educational Background

  • A degree or professional background in business, economics, communications, journalism, marketing, consumer research, procurement, finance, data analysis, or a related field is helpful
  • Equivalent practical experience in consumer research, product comparison, procurement support, review writing, or structured research workflows is also highly relevant

Nice to Have

  • Experience comparing insurance, internet, utilities, subscription services, home services, electronics, appliances, vehicles, or other major consumer purchase categories
