Job description

PURPOSE  

The purpose of the National Product Sales Manager position is to support sales and marketing efforts for specific product segments. The National Product Sales Manager will develop and increase sales revenue to meet assigned targets, as well as being responsible for product and/or account strategies. The National Product Sales Manager will be the primary resource in product planning and launch, and will be responsible for sustaining all aspects of the product’s lifecycle. This position will also have planning and administrative responsibilities to ensure market share penetration and a high level of customer satisfaction

ESSENTIAL DUTIES  

  • Set targets for specific SMC products by quantity and sales dollars for assigned product group  
  • Document sales calls, projects, opportunities, contacts, success reports and activity in CRM  
  • Conduct any necessary market research and identify industry trends and needs   
  • Plan and participate in product promotion, as well as customer technical assistance  
  • Conduct any necessary competitive analysis and suggest pricing strategies  
  • Work closely with Marketing and Engineering to clearly define market requirements for new and existing products  
  • Coordinate necessary training through the development of training tools and materials that will sufficiently equip sales professionals with the knowledge necessary to promote the products within their assigned accounts  
  • Be actively involved in large Sales opportunities for assigned products  
  • Provide application support for key targeted accounts  
  • May have some management responsibilities, including the management, coaching and guidance of direct reports  
  • Assist the sales organization to identify and secure new customers for a new product or for a product in a newly developed market   
  • Successfully complete other duties as prescribed by sales management  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT  

  • Fast paced environment (includes both office and field work)  
  • Travel with some extended stay away from home  
  • Physically capable of lifting SMC products and displays up to 50 lbs. 
  • Varying work hours   

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS  

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Business, Marketing, Engineering, related field) or equivalent work experience  
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of work experience with SMC or equivalent industry  
  • Working knowledge of SMC products or similar product experience  
  • Working knowledge of SMC sales strategies or similar work experience  
  • Highly proficient in project management  
  • Extensive application experience  
  • Well-developed communication skills  
  • Well-developed leadership skills
