Job description

Position Title: Product Engineer – Interior Trim
Reports To: Product Engineering Manager and Director of Interior Trim
Location: Wixom, MI – Motus Technical Development Center (Partial Remote)

At Motus, we’re revolutionizing the manufacturing industry and seeking a passionate, forward-thinking Product Engineer to help us make an impact and drive this position to new heights.
A successful candidate will be high energy, driven, resourceful and a problem solver.
Responsibilities:
  • Technical leader responsible for managing day-to-day engineering details associated with a new program launch
  • Ensure that engineering deliverables are successfully achieved on time and within budget
  • Create, optimize, and influence product designs utilizing prototype and pre-production builds, mock-up trials, internal and external customer collaboration
  • Develop best part design for tooling and process for production plant manufacturing teams
  • Apply existing knowledge, risk assessment and best practices throughout the product development cycle
  • Apply and comply with GD amp;T to meet customer, assembly, and manufacturing requirements
  • Manage part design initial release amp; engineering changes while adhering to drawing amp; data management processes and procedures
  • Develop initial part DFMEA and DFM
  • Create and release product bill of materials
  • Lead root cause analysis activities for problem solving
  • Develop and execute DV and PV testing plans
  • Lead material cost reduction and optimization projects
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of customer, regulatory and internal manufacturing requirements
  • Support all above activities for ongoing engineering change management as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related
  • 5+ years of experience minimum in product engineering
  • Experience in automotive interiors preferred
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter, strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to plants, customers and suppliers
  • Some knowledge of CAD preferred
